TASTING NOTES: “Our new Dunstan 2023 Rosé is delightful. Light pink in color, this wine is crisp and refreshing with a fragrant bouquet of wild strawberry and citrus zest. On the palate, hints of tangy Rainier cherries mixed with grapefruit sorbet come through with a clean finish.“ (AbV 12%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Dunston Checks In, a 1996 film. Dunston is an orangutan. He checks into a hotel. Antics ensue after Dunston checks in.

So the hotel manager Robert has two troublemaking kids, Kyle and Brian, who live with him at the hotel. The hotel is expecting a visit from an important critic to coincide with their “Crystal Ball,” and the hotel owner Elena Dubrow runs a tight shift in anticipation. The man they believe is the critic, “Lord Rutledge,” is actually a jewel thief who abusively trains orangutans to do his heists. His current orangutan, Dunston, manages to escape Rutledge’s control when the brothers mess up a prank. The kids try to protect the orangutan, but he causes chaos in the hotel. Robert hires an animal control person to handle it, played by Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman), but of course, his attempts fail.

Eventually Rutledge tracks Dunston down by his large orders of bananas to room service. Naturally, the boys and Dunston escape to the Crystal Ball, where they cause more havoc and Dubrow to fall into the celebratory cake, because it was the 90’s and they had to do that gag. Robert gets fired, but then rehired in charge of a different hotel where they can keep Dunston. Rutledge gets arrested, and Dunston slaps Pee-Wee.
