About Farmer’s Leap
Founded in Padthaway, Australia in 1993 by Scott Longbottom and Cheryl Merett, Farmer’s Leap produces approachable, honest wines including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. In addition to breeding livestock and harvesting onions, they can now sit back and enjoy a bottle of wine they can call their own.

TASTING NOTES:
“Twilight black with a faint purple rim. The structure is impressive with finesse and lithe tannic structure. Aromas of sweet plums and baking spices join with savory bacon notes. Fruit is youthful and charming, yet will continue to develop over the next several years. Peak drinking in 2019-2022.”

BARRELS:
15 months with a mix of 80% French and 20% American oak.

The first known use of the phrase “that a’way” or “that-a-way,” as in, “They went that a’way,” appears to have been a play from the mid-17th century titled The Jovial Crew or The Merry Beggars. The modernized version of the line it appears in is, “Out again at afternoon, and so till supper–time. Skice out this–a–way, and skice out that–a–way. — He’s no snail, I assure you.” Most folks think it’s an Americanism associated with Westerns or something similar, but the more you know.
