TASTING NOTES: “Our Rosé delights on first blush and long after, with aromas of peach, pear and watermelon. Light to medium-bodied with a crisp finish, it awakens the palate and satisfies taste after taste with lingering notes of stone fruit and hints of the limestone that marks our land.”

THAT REMINDS ME OF: A grand jury. I haven’t been involved in many… well, any legal kerfuffles. Perhaps I am blessed. Or now I am jinxed. In any case, I didn’t know exactly what composes a “grand jury.” I thought perhaps it was just the full title of the jury that hears criminal cases during a trial. It is not.

A grand jury is a group of 16 to 23 citizens who have been gathered to investigate potential criminal conduct. They are the ones who will decide whether there is sufficient proof that something criminal has happened and that it requires a trial. They issue the indictment.

What you see in the courtroom is known as a petit jury. They are called for a single trial, listen to testimony and review evidence, and give a verdict. The grand jury serves for an extended period of time reviewing many different cases within their jurisdiction.
