About Hook & Ladder Vineyards and Winery
Founded in 2003 by Cecil and Christine De Loach, the Hook & Ladder Winery name refers to Cecil’s 17-year long career as a fireman in San Francisco. Today it’s led by their grandson Jason, but Hook & Ladder’s wines still exhibit the same high quality and diversity of the Russian River Valley regions they are sourced from, particularly Chalk Hill.

TASTING NOTES:
“Our Petite Sirah displays a dark magenta and violet hue with aromas of light clove, black current and cocoa. On the palate this wine is full and rounded with lush ripe blackberry and a touch of cinnamon.” (AbV 14.2%, pH 3.56, TA 0.62 g/100mL)

The phrase “hook, line, and sinker” was first recorded in 1865 in the U.S., meaning to accept something without question. It alludes to a fish taking not only the bait, but the hook, the fishing line, and the sinker (pretty much every part of the tackle) with it.

An earlier version is the English phrase “to swallow a gudgeon.” The “gudgeon” is a small European bait fish.
