About J. Dusi Wines: “I was born and raised in the vineyard that my Grandfather Dante, his father and two brothers planted in 1945. As vineyards were rare in the area at that time, Zinfandel was the Italian varietal of choice. They implemented the farming practices of head-pruned vines and no irrigation, dry farming. Today, 65 years later, we still carry on their farming traditions and uphold one of the areas most loved vineyards. Dusi grapes can be found in some of the most sought after Zinfandels in Paso Robles.”

TASTING NOTES: “Fresh cut sage and a bit of smoke on the nose. The red wine blend opens with unassuming black cherry and dark plum. Its deep dark fruits are complemented by cardamom spice, dark chocolate and a delicate herbaceous ﬁnish.”

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Big Brother. The character from 1984, not the reality show.

Who is Big Brother? Nobody knows. Well, someone might know. BUT, they aren’t going to tell you. Essentially, Big Brother is a figurehead, the leader of Oceania, a nation consisting of the Americas, Southern Africa, and various islands in the Pacific including Australia and much of Indonesia.

Big Brother might’ve existed as a real person at some point, but his true identity has since been lost to history. By present day in the novel, he functions as a personification of the totalitarian Ingsoc party that controls the nation. The Ingsoc Inner Party uses him to manipulate the Outer Party and impoverished prole, reminding them that Big Brother is always watching, as every screen functions as a two-way camera. He stokes their hatred and fear of the other superstates, of the bogeyman revolutionary Emmanuel Goldstein who seeks to oppose Big Brother. Party members must affirm these emotions during the daily Two Minutes Hate, which always concludes with a moment of adulation and adoration toward Big Brother.
