About Keller Estate
Though Arturo and Deborah Keller snatched up the site of the Keller Estate around 1989, the Keller Estate label only became a reality in 2000. This was with the return of Ana Keller, Arturo’s daughter, from her education in biochemistry. Now Ana is flying the colors of the Petulama Gap AVA and producing some dang good wines. The vineyard they planted back in 1989, known as La Cruz, had Pinot Noir and Chardonnay planted over the years. The climate of the Petaluma Valley turned out to be perfect for these varietals.

TASTING NOTES:
“Dark fruit and wet earth rounded out with soft purple floral aromatics taunt the senses, giving you more as the wine opens up in the glass. Our 2016 estate Rôtie shows rich blackberries and dark plums, along with anise, cocoa, hibiscus, tobacco, tar, acai, mint chocolate and an array of exotic spices. This lends to perfectly balanced wine with soft velvety tannins and a lengthy finish.“ (AbV 14.6%, pH 3.66, TA 6.11 g/L)

You would think that “killer bee” would most commonly refer to giant ones, but no, the bee known colloquially as the “killer bee” is the Africanized bee. Weird name, right? Turns out the Africanized bee is a hybrid of the East African lowland honey bee and a couple types of European bees. To increase honey production in Brazil, several swarms were brought in during the 50’s and some got out, leading to them spreading all the way up to Texas. What makes them killer is that they are super defensive and will chase people up to a quarter of a mile. Also, they’ve killed over a thousand people in addition to horses and other things.
