TASTING NOTES:
Calistoga - “Just south of the estate, by about 3 miles, we find Barlow Vineyards from whom we source delicious cabernet sauvignon. The color profile is a gorgeous ruby red while the nose is dominated by dark ripe fruits with a hint of tobacco – plus raspberry, Bing cherry, and dark chocolate. Full bodied with rich, chewy tannins that will open up with decanting to drink now or will age well in your cellar.” (AbV 13.7%)

Rutherford - “Our Rutherford Cabernet comes from a beautiful site on the western hills of Napa Valley, in the heart of the Rutherford Bench. Dusty characteristics predominate on the palate, with supple tannins framing the bold style of this wine. Red fruit bursts from the glass offering a subtle vanilla note from the French Oak barrels used to age the wine. Decant if you plan to drink in the next few years, or cellar to soften the structure and drink by 2035.” (AbV 14.4%)

BARRELS:
The Calistoga spent 17 months in French oak, 40% new. Rutherford was also in French oak.

The word “hoagie,” referring to the sandwich, originates from Hog Island in Philadelphia. Or it’s named for Hoagland “Hoagy”Carmichael, the songwriter. Or it was named after street vendors called f@#$ing hokey-pokey men who sold buns with a cut in them. OR it refers to the phrase “on the hoke,” which refers to someone being destitute, and deli owners would give these f@#$ing people f@#$ing Hokies which turned into hoagie! Which means nobody actually f@#$ing knows where the f@#$ the word hoagie came from! Like, hokey-pokey men? “On the hoke?” A man whose first name is Hoagland? It’s all made up, you can’t convince me otherwise. I’m done.
