TASTING NOTES:
“We put our heads together last harvest and planned to use the RRV Sauvignon Blanc as the base wine in this blend. As we began to spread the word to vintner friends, the Meeker family introduced us to a beautiful Verdelho wine. A juicy and bright wine with streaks of key-lime and passion fruit. After a few blending sessions in our cellar, the end result also included our 2016 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay…a couple of barrels that had been aging in neutral Burgundy oak for over a year. This addition added another magical layer to the Lord Sandwich Blanc.” (AbV 14%)

BARRELS:
A blend of various wines, the chardonnay component at least was aged a year in neutral Burgundy oak.

Did you know that the “sandwich” is neither named after a person nor a portmanteau? Turns out there’s literally a town that was known as Sandwich located in the county Kent of England. Actually, it isn’t even named for the place itself. It’s named after the title of a person, the Earl of Sandwich. In particular, it was the 4th Earl of Sandwich, a title held by John Montagu in the 18th century. Apparently he enjoyed requesting meat between bread, and other folks basically went, “I’ll have what he’s having,” to a point that it became synonymous.
