About Maison Louis Latour
Maison Louis Latour are back with their straight-out-of-Lord of the Rings-sounding description:

“Domaine Louis Latour covers 48 hectares of vineyard, from the red Grand Cru of Chambertin and Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the Côte de Nuits to the white Grand Cru of Corton-Charlemagne and Chevalier-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune.”

This is wine made by elves. And in case you are unaware, a Grand Cru is a premium vineyard (or the wine it produces), they’re located in Burgundy, and they’ve got the largest holding of Grand Crus there.

TASTING NOTES:
Chardonnay - “This Chardonnay represents the epitome of classical white Burgundy reflecting the fusion between the noble Chardonnay grape and the calciferous terrain of the area. It possesses a fresh, creamy bouquet which prepares the palate for the suave, billowing aftertaste.” (AbV 13%)

Henry Fessy Red - “With age, this wine shows layers of depth and nuance. The dark, ripe currants and black cherry lead the way with aromas of plum, tobacco, and walnut. This wine is a steal of a deal. If you love aged Pinot Noir, you’ll love this wine too.” (AbV 13%, 100% Gamay)

BARRELS:
Chardonnay - 8 to 10 months in stainless steel.

Henry Fessy - 10 months in neutral oak (assumedly French).

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
A tour of duty refers to the time a person in the military has spent while in a hostile environment. You can sort of look at it like hours at a job. Except, instead of maybe 8 hours every weekday, it’s 24-hours a day and seven days a week (for an army, at least). You’re always on the clock, which, in the past, has led to some rather ridiculous tours. For instance, soldiers deployed for the entirety of WWII would be considered in active service/on their tour of duty for a full 5 years.
