About McEvoy Ranch
Oddly enough, McEvoy’s original calling was olive oil! Founded by Nan McEvoy in 1990, they’ve become a leader in organic extra virgin olive oil. But that’s not why we’re here. No, because since 2010, they’ve also been creating handcrafted, limited-edition wines. Primarily focused on Mediterranean varietals (of course), they also have Pinot Noir and Viognier available as well. Today we’ve got a nice Sangiovese.

The Real McEvoy

TASTING NOTES:
“…begins with a sense of red plum, raspberry, violet, cigar box, and cinnamon. It then flows to more earthy tones including Porcini mushrooms and leather. The next layer of flavors unveil as mulberry, black fig, a delightful sour cherry, pomegranate and cinnamon stick. Citrus notes of blood orange dipped in dark chocolate and grapefruit round out the finish…”

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
First written in 1856, “the real McCoy” likely came from the phrase “the real MacKay.” Shocking, yeah? No, but the baffling part is the rest of the line: “A drappie o’ the real MacKay.” I know we highlighted Scots as a language not long ago, and using that knowledge, it seems to be “a drop of the real MacKay.” Again, shocking. But also what does it mean?
