TASTING NOTES: “The 2019 vintage is more Pinot-like, packed with many red and blue fruit flavors and an elegant tannin profile. Think juicy red plum, dark cherry, and crisp blueberry with hints of vanilla.” (AbV 14.7%, pH 3.7, TA 5.8 g/L, RS 0.2 g/L)

PAIRS WITH: Thanksgiving.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: “Bingo.” The children’s song. Not the retirement home staple. Or maybe they do sing “Bingo” there. I don’t know for sure.

The first known publication of “Bingo” as sheet music was in 1780. Foolishly, the people of the past added additional lines that convoluted the basic nursery rhyme. Sometimes the dog leaps over something. Sometimes the farmer loves drinking. Sometimes he wants to get married. Such character traits were ultimately deemed unnecessary by the passage of time. In the end, all that truly matters is the farmer had a dog, and his name was Bingo.

These days, as seen with other forms of media, the children prefer action to nuanced storytelling. Therefore the storytelling of the past variations has been replaced by clapping.
