So The Pebble and the Penguin is a 1995 Don Bluth animated film, although he’d remove his name as director shortly before release due to a whole bunch of meddling. The Adélie penguins of the film collect pebbles they present to their prospective mates. The film treats it essentially like a marriage proposal. Hubie, a shy and goofy penguin, has the hots for Marina, a tall and curvy penguin who believes more in true love than the quality of a suitor’s pebble.

Unfortunately, the Tim Curry penguin named Drake also has the hots for Marina. This rival is built like a brick house. Just the most jacked penguin you’ve ever seen. He even wears a cape. Somehow. And he’s straight-up evil. Hubie thinks he has a shot when he lucks into an emerald pebble, but Drake goes and throws him almost to his death. Hubie ends up captured in a zoo and needs to get back home to propose to Marina before Drake forces her to accept his own proposal.
