About Peterson Winery
“Owner Fred Peterson is an iconoclast with an old world winemaking philosophy and a reverence for sustainable farming. The Peterson approach is to capture the essence of vintage and vineyard—a philosophy they call Zero Manipulation—with low tech, yet high touch, to produce wines of a place, wines with soul. The evolution of Peterson wines and winemaking accelerated when Fred’s son Jamie became assistant winemaker in the summer of 2002. TASTING NOTES:
“Dark red fruit aromatics swirled with a subtle spicy blend foretell the deliciousness discovered on the palate. Subtle spicy cedar notes weave through deep lush flavors of black raspberry, strawberry and Bing cherry. The luscious fruit is balanced with an integrated tannin and oak structure that shows a bit of muscle in the broad finish as traces of baking spices and black pepper appear.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.56, TA 0.67 g/100mL)

TANGENTIALLY RELATED FACT to help you make conversation over this wine:
Laurus nobilis is an evergreen tree/shrub that happens to be one of a few different types of bay leaves used for seasoning! It is also the source of the laurel, as known with Ancient Greek and Roman culture.

The laurel as a prize/trophy began as a practice due to their association with Apollo. The reason for the association goes back to the myth of Apollo and Daphne. Apollo fell in love with Daphne, a nymph, who wanted none of that god business. When Apollo tried to seduce her, she literally prayed herself away. From there, the writings differ. Some say she turned into a laurel tree. Others say Gaia pulled the old switcheroo, swapping Daphne for a laurel tree. Either way, Apollo got depressed and decided to make wreaths from the tree to get over it. Thus the laurel wreath was presented to people who accomplished Apollo related things and otherwise.

Sidenote, the oracle of Delphi, also known as the Pythia, would chew on raw bay leaves to induce a trance for prophetic visions.
