TASTING NOTES:
Barbera - “Dark color, red fruit of currents, white pepper, violets, oregano, coffee and grilled steak lead to an extractive fleshy structure with firm tannin and a long lingering finish.” (AbV 14.9%, pH 3.51)

Zinfandel - “Fruit forward, rich full flavors expressing both the varietal and the Amador Terroir. This complex spicy wine has notes of bright raspberry, dark fruit, briary Zinfandel character with a fresh finish.” (AbV 15.5%, pH 3.54)

BARRELS: 20-21 months in French oak.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: “There is an expression in the Wasteland: ‘Old World Blues.’ It refers to those so obsessed with the past they can’t see the present, much less the future, for what it is.”

The series Fallout takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that’s been ravaged by a nuclear war, leaving pretty much everywhere a wasteland. Fallout: New Vegas takes place in, surprise! Nevada, around Las Vegas. You are a courier who has been shot in the head, inducing amnesia, and were previously transporting something that all sorts of factions in the region wanted.

The downloadable add-on to Fallout: New Vegas, Old World Blues, brings the courier to a location known as Big Mountain, or the Big MT, which had been a research facility run by a ton of tunnel-visioned scientists. By the time you get there, though, all that’s left is a group of crazy brains in jars running increasingly ridiculous experiments in the name of “science.” It’s wacky.
