TASTING NOTES: “Fruit-forward, rich full flavors expressing both the varietal and the Amador Terroir. This complex spicy wine has notes of bright raspberry, dark fruit, and briary Zinfandel character with a fresh finish.” (AbV 15.5%, pH 3.54, RS dry @ .2%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The stone giants of Tolkien. In Peter Jackson’s interpretation of The Hobbit, they are literally made of stone, easily mistaken for part of the mountains they inhabit. Quite a dramatic appearance, considering it was in a thunderstorm and Bilbo was in the middle of crossing said mountains. The giants attack each other, hurling boulders and knocking each other around.

In the original text, however, it’s not clear what the giants are. There are no physical descriptions. All that’s described are their actions of tossing rocks to each other as a game, and down the mountains into the forest below, while laughing and shouting.

Were they named stone giants because they were actually made of stone or because they just really liked stone? Up to you, honestly.
