TASTING NOTES: “It is bright in acidity with polished tannins and exceptional structure and balance. This wine shows us the true expression of a cold climate Pinot Noir. Violets, dried rose pedals and hints of black tea dominate the nose. Black cherry, blueberry preserves and thyme dominant the palate and lead us to a soft silky finish.” (AbV 14.1%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The Molotov cocktail.

In 1939, Finland was invaded by the Soviets. They wanted Finnish land, particularly Karelia. This event would be known as the Winter War. The Finnish, who did not have many anti-tank weapons, had to improvise a bit. So, they created bottles of highly flammable and sticky mixtures that could be tossed on tanks with a flame to ignite them.

Why is it a Molotov cocktail? Because Vyacheslav Molotov, foreign minister of the Soviet Union, had claimed bombing missions were actually food deliveries to the Finns. Thus the bombs from the planes were called Molotov bread baskets, and the bottle bombs in response to the invasion became Molotov cocktails.
