About Tabali: “Viña Tabalí has for years been a pioneer and the most iconic winery in the Limarí Valley. Company president Nicolás Luksic is continuing in the footsteps of his father, Guillermo Luksic, who founded the winery in 2002, in ensuring that the places chosen for each variety have a singularity that is reflected in each wine. Nicolás explains, ‘what we are seeking is to produce high-quality wines that reveal their origin and transport the person tasting them to the soil and climate of Tabalí’s vineyards. That’s what my father always wanted to transmit.’

TASTING NOTES:
2019 Malbec - “This wine is violet red in hue. The nose delivers plums, sour cherry, other ripe red fruits and aromas of violets. It is intense with a lovely freshness and fine tannins and the finish is long and fruity.“ (AbV 14%, pH 3.66, TA 3.07 g/L, RS 2.65 g/L)

2018 Malbec-Cabernet Franc - “On the nose, the two varieties combine perfectly to produce a very elegant and expressive wine that is unique for its type, full of fruits like blueberries and cherries, along with delicious floral notes from the Malbec and notes of very fresh spices from the Cabernet Franc, all making it very complex and attractive. The palate has impressive structure thanks to the character of the Cabernet Franc, which contributes tannins and a lot of tension, along with the smooth and voluptuous nature of the Malbec. Together they produce a very well-balanced, fresh and powerful mouth that is smooth and packed with fruit accompanied by gentle notes from the barrel-ageing.“ (AbV 14.7%, pH 3.67, TA 3.19 g/L, RS 2.64 g/L)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Tabouli. Or Tabbouleh. Or Taboulah. Or however you want to transcribe it. It’s a dip but also I guess a salad? The name literally translates to dip, though. You finely chop parsley, tomatoes, onion, usually mint, uncooked bulgur wheat, and add olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and other spices. Serve it alongside hummus, tzatziki, or baba ghanoush with pita bread.
