TASTING NOTES: “As a dry red wine, the variety is also fabulous. Often overlooked by grape growers because it is hard to grow, recent improvements to farming and vine selection have thankfully allowed for the varietal’s resurgence as a dry red wine. This wine has stunning dark berry flavors. It is deep and dark but smooth and gentle at the same time. Think full bodied and light on its feet. Strong and nimble.” (AbV 13%)

Art Carney did a lot in his 85 years on this planet, and one of the things he did was Harry and Tonto.

A 1974 roadtrip comedy film starring the elderly Art Carney as Harry Coombes, he makes the journey from New York to Los Angeles alongside his pet cat Tonto. Unable to fly, he resorts to hitchhiking with various interesting individuals, making stops in major cities like Chicago and Las Vegas. In addition to the strange people he meets, he also gets the chance to reconnect with people from his past and family members.

Carney’s performance won him Best Actor awards at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. Additionally, Tonto the Cat would win the PATSY Award for Best Animal Performer in a Motion Picture. I would forgive you for not knowing the PATSY Awards, however, as Tonto’s award in 1974 was the second-to-last they ever awarded.
