About Y Rousseau Wines: “Yannick’s reputation has been made not by following in anyone’s particular footsteps but rather by taking what he has learned from great mavericks and integrating it into what he discovers to be true. His history of working with grape varietals from the Southwest of France is well known. Now, he carries forward his winemaking mission still embracing Colombard, Tannat and other favored varietals and blending them to create revived, and even edge-bending wines.”

TASTING NOTES:
White - “Complex, aromatic, scintillating white wine. The nose is bright, pure, focus and explodes with notes of lemongrass, meyer lemon, yellow grapefruit, pear, jasmine, chalky soil, sea breeze salinity. Makes you want to just keep smelling it! The palate displays saline character, layers of citrus, green apple and white peach. Excellent balance between texture, minerality, freshness and long finish. It is brisk and mouth watering.“ (AbV 12%)

Rosé - “Pale salmon color. The nose offers suggestions of watermelons, white nectarines, fresh raspberry, Mirabelle plums, and white flowers. Feels like summer in a glass. The palate is medium body and polished, with a textural elegance alongside salted minerals and saline notes. Notes of blood orange, pink grapefruit. The bright, long finish is clean and thirst quenching.” (AbV 12%)

VARIETALS: White is Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc. Rosé is Tannat, Cabernet-Franc, Merlot.

BARRELS: 5 months in stainless steel.

PAIRS WITH: Pair the White with Caesar’s Salad, grilled white fish, oysters (Yannick’s favorite pairing), seafood, sushi, or spicy food.

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Inspector Jacques Clouseau, a primary character in The Pink Panther series of films. Originally portrayed by Peter Sellers across seven films, he’s had five different live incarnations and two cartoon. Clouseau is bumbling, to say the least. A chaotic man, who, despite approaching his investigations and job very seriously, always causes a mess with his simultaneous absent-minded behavior and general clumsiness. In many ways, he is a parody of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. I mean, their names even rhyme.
