2020 Adega Mayor Dizeres Tinto, Alentejo, Portugal
Tasting Notes
Dizeres Tinto is a red blend from an area of the Alentejo region near Campo Maior, which immediately adjoins the border of Extremadura in Spain. This wine was created with the intention of providing an unaged and approachable red blend that represented the characteristic varietals of the region. The blend of the wine combines an indigenous Portuguese grape, Trincadeira, which is notoriously temperamental and difficult to cultivate but which is also prized for its complex and richly flavored grapes, and Aragonez, a Portuguese synonym for the Tempranillo grape. The combination of these two grapes in this wine, which is fermented in stainless steel, offers an abundance of ripe red fruit, berries, and tart acid, along with characteristics of pepper and dried spices.
After three years of drought, with very low yields, 2020 was a year with typical Mediterranean weather. The winter and spring had good precipitation, which restored soil moisture levels that balanced the production and caused the gradual maturation of the grapes.

@Allieroon A 3.7 from Vivino is like a 95 from Luca Maroni.
@FritzCat Oh goodness, that is dreadful news…Luca Maroni never gives scores less than 97!
