2021 AldenAlli Rosé of Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley
Tasting Notes
The AldenAlli Rosé is an intentional Rosé, meaning that the fruit is picked specifically for this production (as opposed to being made from a saignée bleed). The 2021 vintage is crisp, elegant, and endlessly refreshing with notes of fresh melon and light strawberry on the palate. We eagerly look forward to enjoying this wine with friends poolside in the spring sun!
Alden and Emeril Lagasse developed the Aldenalli brand together with Alli and Dan Kosta, collectively aiming to produce Pinot Noirs from the Sonoma Coast with as much character as their esteemed reputations in the food and wine industry. Dan is an award-winning winemaker and Kosta Browne co-founder, and Emeril is a celebrity chef and proprietor of many successful restaurants all over the country.
Winemaker Shane Finley has been the winemaker for AldenAlli since the inaugural vintage. Among many other notable achievements, Shane was at the helm of the cellar responsible for crafting the 2009 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that received Wine Spectator’s “Wine of the Year” recognition.

About The Winery
AldenAlli
AldenAlli was founded by two self-made names in wine and food: Kosta and Lagasse. The son of a wine collector, Dan Kosta was adept in the environs of fine dining from a young age. In his early career, Dan worked his way up the ranks from back-waiter to Wine Director at the acclaimed John Ash & Co. in Russian River Valley. He famously saved up his tips with Michael Browne to start Kosta Browne Winery in 1997. The success of Kosta Browne Pinot Noir, combined with Dan’s passion and extensive hospitality background, established him as a natural leader in the global wine industry. The Lagasse family needs no introduction for their many contributions to the culinary world. A philanthropist at heart, Alden Lagasse co-founded the Emeril Lagasse Foundation with her husband Emeril to help children realize their full potential through culinary, nutrition, and arts education. The friendship between Kosta and Lagasse grew from the love of sharing exceptional food, wine, and hospitality with others— often for philanthropic causes. Over many dinners and family memories, the AldenAlli collaboration was born in 2013. Today AldenAlli crafts cool-climate, terroir-driven wines to share with their extended wine family all over the world.

2021 AldenAlli Rosé of Pinot Noir - $30 = 16.66%
I had the great fortune to sample the 2021 AldenAlli Russian River Valley Rosé of Pinot Noir, which is this weekend’s offering on @casemateswine!
I tasted this wine at 50°F.
The color is a soft pink/peach, rather like the center of a Peace Rose.
In the glass, this wine has aromas of strawberry, rose petals, and a little bit of hops.
On the palate, I am tasting tart strawberry, a hint of cranberry (acidic), some high notes of green leaves, and a hint of earthiness. It is not sweet at all.
This is a nice “sipping” wine. Something to serve with a light nosh on your patio in front of the fire pit.
Well let’s see… Reverse Wine Snob offered this up(4 pack $64.99) a couple of weeks ago, had this to say:
The 2021 AldenAlli Rosé of Pinot Noir opens with a very pleasing aroma of melon, watermelon, strawberry, a little cherry and some nice floral notes.
Taking a sip reveals a light, lively and highly refreshing wine. It’s immediately apparent that there were some very high-quality Pinot Noir grapes used in its making. Featuring a lovely smooth mouthfeel and good acidity the wine features similar flavors to the nose with touches of blood orange, lime and cranberry too. It ends dry, crisp, long and lip-smacking. With great harmony throughout, what’s not to like? This makes a great summer weather rosé.
@kaolis, while my nose and tastebuds are less experienced than the reviewer at RWS, it sounds like that reviewed and I generally concur. This really is a lovely summer rosé.
Keeping it short and sweet today. Not super versed in the world of rosés, but wife had some solid tasting notes to share.
Its a lovely pink color, as one might expect for a rosé, and smelled fruity and aromatic. We enjoyed this wine well chilled. As other have mentioned, an excellent summer sipping wine for us patio day drinkers.
Main flavors we agreed upon were strawberry and watermelon, with a lime-y acidic finish. Not much sweetness compared to the cliché rosé you imagine in your head, so probably great for drinking all day and avoiding a hangover.
Personally I don’t know rosés well enough to buy any at this price point, but if thats your vibe it’s for sure worth testing out a small case or two, hard to imagine a scenario where it wouldn’t get drunk.
Thanks Casemates for another reviewing opportunity!
David here,
I am Dan Kosta’s VP of Sales for his new DK Wine Group. I am neighbors and friends with Case Mates in Sonoma and they have the last cases of Alden Alli
We drank it yesterday in honor of National Rose Day.
I will check back in later and try toanswer any questions.
