Bright fruit, spice, texture, and all of the tannin is a hallmark of the high-elevation vineyards of Lake County. The dark fruits, old-world characters, and dried herbs come from the lower elevations of North Napa County. Aged 12 months in oak (30% French).

About the Winemaker
Clay Shannon began his career as a vineyard manager, farming wine regions of California. Now owner and visionary leader of Shannon Ridge Family of Wines, his passion is simple…. Grow the best fruit possible, while preserving the land for future generations. For Clay,
sustainability is not just a philosophy, it’s a way of life.
At Shannon Ridge, we live in harmony with Mother Nature. The vineyards feed the sheep, the sheep feed the vines; the lamb feeds the people, and people drink the wine and wear wool.
In 1995, Clay discovered a magnificent piece of property in the hills overlooking Clear Lake in Lake County, thirty-five miles north of Napa’s famed vineyards. He quickly set out to develop vineyards, Clay’s vision was simple: “We wanted to grow the best fruit in the world,” says Clay, “but we wanted to do it in a way that made us happy living there.”
We are dedicated to creating a family of wines that consumers love at top-quality and affordable prices. We are passionate about preserving our land, not only for great vineyard sites but for the wild creatures which share our property. Our sustainability practices integrate a flock of sheep that clean the vineyards, remove the excess canopy, and reduce the need for chemicals while providing natural fertilizer.
“Sustainability wasn’t some philosophical concept; it is the way we live our lives.”

@Drez143 question for you as it sounds as if you’ve drank these before: if/when these wines become available to buy, are they fruit forward bombs or more subtle and balanced? Thank you!

Okay, so I am a little confused that I got this bottle because I thought I was supposed to review a wine for next week. I just got this today about 45 minutes ago, so sorry in advance for this very last minute, very rushed rattage!
That being said, I am so very happy I got this bottle because it is so very yummy (for those that don’t have time to read the whole post especially since this deal is almost over, there you go it’s a must buy)!
I love Zinfandels and this one does not disappoint. It is a beautiful, jewel-toned purple that made me very excited to drink. The bouquet is very fragrant and I get dark berries, a little cotton candy, a hint of tobacco, and some musk (the good kind), and for some reason I keep smelling pears as well.
This has been a long week at work so I was happy to open this quickly and have a drink and, of course, write my post. It is about 58 degrees right now on my side of the world so I figure it’s fine to go ahead and get to it. First sip gives so much flavor immediately on the palate. I still taste the dark berries and some accompanying sweetness that is not off-putting at all. I get a little smokiness from it and a small bit of nice peppery bitterness, but this is a pretty smooth sip and low on the tannins. Very easy drinker and I will have not problem finishing this bottle off tonight!
I concede that this is a rushed taste and I will try to let the rest of this bottle sit a bit to get another impression, but this is a delicious wine and it is good to drink on its own or paired with a meaty pasta, pizza, or cheese plate!
@scenicready, thank you for the rattage though you got the bottle so late for a 1 day only offering. I was getting to believe we don’t have any rattage for Friday offers.
I’m already inclined on this offer but would love to hear a rat report for the Syrah as well, though absence of it may not stop me from getting a case. Cheers!

Seriously?
Sold out? Is that correct?
@cosmo108 no, it has to be a server glitch
@cosmo108 @klezman I’m sure they’re voting on it…every hour!
Is Southwest Airlines running this sale? It just went on sale, but says SOLD OUT.
Well, that was fast
Somebody bought it all for their daughters wedding.
Ok, what about starting the “Next Casemates Event”
right now?
i agree with @klezman.
or maybe they never got this wine? i don’t know.
but isn’t kinda rude that casemates is not saying anything?
Wtf-just logged in an sold out???
Maybe they are trying to be the new WASO site, Wines Already Sold Out.
Maybe this has something to do with dry January?!?!
@toddly_35

@Drez143 or maybe that was just a fowl joke…
@wmhatch I was about to comment on how many states bought in on this.
@Mark_L @wmhatch
Well, it wasn’t when it went live, and I went to bed.
Staff notified, they should be awake and working on it.
@rjquillin @wmhatch Maybe this is the newest iteration of Mystery Cases?
@Mark_L @wmhatch
On how to purchase!?
Yup, that fits.
All good now.
Buy all the cases.
@rjquillin Clever way to create demand??!!
@Mark_L
If I were just a bit more cynical…
@Mark_L @rjquillin Now I’m really on the fence…

I ordered a case. I’m happy to split with anyone in the Marin/SF area.
