Sourced from two adjacent vineyards at 3,000 feet in elevation, the 2019 Coen Classic is an authentic expression of Malbec from Mendoza.
This wine is perceived as bright and concentrated with vivid violet-red notes. On the nose, it has typical aromas such as fresh plum, spices, and menthol. The wine fills the palate with flavor and elegance, with soft tannins that accompany the long and persistent finish.
“The Coen Classic 2019 embraces its youth by being very structurally sound, achieving a balancing act of fruit, elegance, and tannin. It can be enjoyed every day with a number of foods, but most importantly, the integrity of this wine is great for highlighting simple, quality ingredients in food. Pair it with pizza and red sauce, a cheeseburger or charcuterie, even some light game meats.” Liz Martinez - Food & Wine
Hailing from Italy, Attilio Pagli is not only the Chief Winemaker at Coen Estates but also a global force who elevated Argentinian Malbec to international acclaim. Hans Chang had an idea: to make a proprietary wine under the Coen brand name, exclusively with the best grapes in Mendoza. He first came to Mendoza a few years ago and was immediately impressed by its natural beauty and the quality of the grapes from the two vineyards. From there, he decided to team up with a dedicated team to produce world-class, high-quality Malbec wines made from organically grown grapes.
All our grapes are grown exclusively by us to make our high-quality wines; we do not sell to other wineries. During harvest season, grapes are hand-picked to avoid causing damage, which prematurely starts the fermentation before the grapes arrive at the winery for production.
