Tasting Notes
We design this blend to be balanced and approachable, and it becomes that almost automatically. We bring together most of the red varieties we have in our vineyard and they become a wonderful blend almost on their own. The trick is finding just the right proportions every year. For this vintage, Cabernet Sauvignon provides the foundation and adds brightness. Syrah brings decadence, dark fruit, and richness. Cabernet Franc adds vibrancy and delicate complexity. Petit Verdot imparts its structure and meaty opulence. Merlot completes the ensemble with freshness and its distinct fruitiness. The end result is a definitive portrait of the vintage, our site, and our particular style. It is in many ways our vineyard in a bottle.
Dineen Vineyards is a family-owned estate tucked into the rolling hills of Washington’s Yakima Valley (Rattlesnake Hills AVA). Founded in 2001 by Patrick and Lanie Dineen, and now led by their daughter Marissa, the vineyard began with the transformation of a small apple orchard and has since grown into 100 acres devoted to Bordeaux and Rhône varietals.
Rooted in family and farming heritage, every detail tells a story—from the vineyard blocks named after loved ones to the iconic black truck, a tribute to Pat’s father and the family’s agricultural roots. Even the winery itself, with its barn-inspired architecture, is a tribute to the family legacy.
Exclusively estate-grown, Dineen wines reflect both place and care. Certified sustainable through Lodi Rules and Sustainable WA, their farming honors the land while crafting wines of integrity and character. Visitors are invited to experience the charm of farm life — where the land, sun, and sense of family create a unique and memorable escape.

2023 Vintner’s Blend by Dineen Vineyards, Yakima Valley, WA
On the nose slightly ripe plums, dark cherries, sweet wood and tertiary herbal notes of fennel.
Body is very nicely balanced, smooth mouth feel, blue and blackberry with hints of dusty rocky earth, cedarwood, baking spices and cocoa. Tannins I are fully integrated, providing great structure. Finish is clean with little fanfare - a punch of cedarwood oils, before a lingering crisp, dry tannic grip.
This comes across as a Cab dominant blend of mostly Bordeaux and/or Rhone varietals. It exhibits a good sense of place - hints of rocky minerality and the restraint that comes with Yakima Valley.
At this price, I honestly think it’s a no-brainer. If you like a good, well made red on the dry side, this is your wine. A great every day wine to keep on hand, especially when you have friends over or to take to gatherings. It’s sure to be a hit.
@kaolis@winesnob Hi there! Marissa Dineen from the winery here. There is no residual sugar but you will get a fair amount of fruit and brightness in the wines. Thank you for asking.

2023 Dineen Vineyards Vintner’s Blend Red Wine - $30 = 17.64%
Dunnuck dot com… 88 points. Not yet released, the 2023 Red Wine Vintners Blend combines 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Syrah, 22% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot, and 5% Merlot. Aged in all neutral oak over 20 months, it offers full-bodied intensity over a supple mouthfeel, spicy and meaty with rich red fruit and a lasting note of herbal leather. Drink now. A good value, medium-bodied wine with juicy acidity, fine tannin and generous fruit profile. Fine cocoa tannins. Drink now.

Raspberry sauce and crushed plums are complemented by nuances of sage and blood orange as the 2023 Vintner’s Red Blend evolves in the glass. It is silken in feel yet juicy and spry, with depths of ripe wild berry fruits and crisp mineral tones. The 2023 tapers off long and staining but still fresh, leaving a dark chocolate tinge. This represents excellent value.
@rjquillin Thank you!
Write up above is very representative. I would also add that when I share this wine with folks they often say this should be >$50 bottle; the good news is that it is not…and you can get this wonderful, one day only price at below the $25 SRP!
It is really a “petit plaisir” - a taste of our vineyard in a bottle! How often can you find single vineyard wines at this price, never! Great opportunity to try!
@winesnob Thanks! It starts in the vineyard, and as mentioned this is a very site expressive wine. Our wonderful winemaker, Brian Mackey, does a great job of amplifying the vineyard character - fruit, lift, gravelly minerality and savory notes.
This is a winner. My cellar is full and I’m still in for a case.
Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah is such a cheat code they had to ban it in France (ok, slightly kidding here). The only risk is it gets flabby but this has got the Petit Verdot to make sure the tannins are there to back it up.
Suckling’s ratings are always inflated but this is going to drink well regardless. This is not going to have flaws, it’s going to be correctly made, structurally sound (no pun intended on the petit verdot), and a solid drinker. Probably big fruit, but with enough drying finish to balance it. Maybe a fun bit of peppery Syrah. 14% is big but not too big. From a colder area so you won’t get that stewed fruit that California Syrah can be prone to developing - should instead have nice acidity and forest berry flavors.
@afwaller Thank you! You are right; bit of pepper on the finish. Makes it a great BBQ wine but also a winner with pasta, pizza, etc.
No stewed fruit; we have a gorgeous lift that keeps it all in balance!
So really wanted summer hold, but the case was sold out which doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense, since non-summer hold had cases available. I hope the risk will be worth it and the wine doesn’t get damaged in transit.
@WineDavid69 would be helpful to understand why summer hold cases “sell out” while non-summer hold are still available.

Following yesterday’s offer, where there were 6-ers left for both offers, I chatted with Dave today and he said any re-allocation needs to come from/be approved by WCC.
Any chance of jiggering the inventory?
Thank you everyone for the interest! I hope you enjoy this “petit plaisir” from our vineyard. For further questions, please don’t be shy to reach out to us at info@dineenvineyards.com.
Enjoyed a Dineen Cab some years back at a fancy French restaurant on Bainbridge Island…don’t remember anything specific, except everyone at the table was raving about it. Super excited about this wine, so happy I didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger for a case in the first hour!

@winesnob you mention on the dry side… RS in play or just a fruity profile?
@kaolis @winesnob Hi there! Marissa Dineen from the winery here. There is no residual sugar but you will get a fair amount of fruit and brightness in the wines. Thank you for asking.
@kaolis it has good fruit expression but definitely not sweet in any way. I did not detect any residual sugar. It’s pretty dry.
