Not a superstition, but a tradition. A friend I did some travelling with in college passed along a tradition of sounding the car horn 3 times whenever driving over the Mississippi River. I still follow it (although if in close proximity to other cars, they are as brief of “honks” as I can generate).
Does walking through the house, checking every light, faucet, and appliance each day before I leave count?
