Winemaker Notes
Our winemaker, Will SavoieHoule, carefully utilizes modern vineyard practices, and handcrafts each varietal with numerous blending evolutions. We search for grapes from the best vineyards for harvesting as we are addicted to perfecting every vintage. When you open our wine, enjoy a full-flavor bouquet and a unique velvety finish. We are proud to have created each wine specifically for you to enjoy!
Since 1999, Frog’s Tooth Vineyards and Winery has been growing, crafting, pouring, and sharing our hand crafted small batch wines from the Sierra Foothills. What we don’t grow on our beautiful 10 acre vineyard in Copperopolis CA, we source from other local growers who share our passion.
From our inviting tasting room and patio, a short walk from Main Street in Murphys, we have been pouring our wines since 2007. Our winemaker Will SavoieHoule has brought a new youthful passion to crafting delicious wines. Each and every varietal is painstakingly hand sorted to ensure only the best fruit makes it into our award winning wines.
Will’s passion for bringing out the best that our fruit has to offer is contagious. We encourage you to come by our tasting room and enjoy a glass on our patio or join us for one of our club member parties at our Vineyard.
Every sip of our wines is a true taste of the Sierra Foothills!

Always nice to get that email from Alice, and it has been a day! The bottle arrived on Wednesday and I put it in the wine fridge until M and I were ready to taste Thursday night. We had just finished dinner out so she paired it with a single Rolo left from Halloween (don’t judge). Smells: initially just sour cherry, then strongly of chocolate, maybe a hint of espresso beans. Medium bodied, no legs that I detected, stong aftertaste. Mouthfeel on night one was somewhat chewy. M guessed the store price as $19 and was a fan, me somewhat less so (meaning, I’ll happily finish what I have but wouldn’t ask for more). M’s go-to in reds is pinot noir, but she does love a blend. I can’t say that we were able to ID what went into this blend (I mean, we had the ability to read the label, but we didn’t detect any certain grape).
Night two–it has opened up and become fuller and very enjoyable. I ate it with some Thai leftovers (prik king jae, which is wok-cooked dry red curry with crispy tofu, long beans and long hot peppers, from Kalaya, which is as good as people are saying it is, in case there are any Philly people here). This wine held up really well with that spicy dish. The Syrah stood out more on night two. Good deal at the case price and thank you for the wine!

@LincolnMics a tad high on the alcohol streaky legs but after the first glass, and or letting it sat out a half hour or so, the flavor really opens up to smooth, easy drinking …after initial alcohol headwinds. Did not buy this time but time constraints put my informing tasting on hold until just now (lunch time, salmon quinoa broccoli rice, paired ok) but would have bought a few bottles again for sure had I had this info prior to the window closing

I enjoyed the 2017. My notes were that it was bold, peppery, and spicy with a more extracted style, not a light and traditional Rhone style
Anyone in CMH / Columbus want to split? The 2017 GSM that came as part of the mixed case offer was rock solid!
@albish7 I’d be in – would prefer 3 or 4, but could do the full split if I’m the only Cbus taker.
@albish7 I would be the third if you need one.
@cstoffel @fermentedwisdom sounds good - pulled the trigger. if any other takers for a 4 way split, let us know!
Who in Nebraska is buying cases before I? Got one of these in the mystery box(es) so I’m going to try it today and report back if I’m buying.
