Tasting Notes
Gruet Sauvage NV is a bone-dry sparkler, pale straw in color with a delicate but persistent mousse. The aromas of bright mineral and citrus notes tickle the nose followed by touches of green apple, lemon and grapefruit. The finish is structured, flavorful and long. The bright acidity makes this wine a perfect pairing for oysters, sushi and cream sauces.
Wild. Raw. Savage. Untamed since 1989. Gruet Sauvage is for the sparkling connoisseur who appreciates bone dry acidity.

Tasting Notes
Brut NV was our first wine released in 1989. As the predominant grape used in Champagne, “We wanted our first sparkling wine to express the finesse of Chardonnay”- Laurent Gruet. More than twenty years later, our Brut NV remains our flagship sparkling wine for both quality and price.
Wonderful aromas of green apple and citrus with mineral notes make for a delightful start to this traditional sparkler. Our Brut NV offers bright, crisp acidity complimented by a touch of yeast on the delightfully long finish. A classic house style!

French for “white of black”, Blanc de Noirs describes a sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir grapes, by pressing them gently and running the pale juice over the skins.
Pale Salmon in color, the Blanc de Noirs has aromas of berry and pear, complimented by a rich, round mouth feel on the palate. It finishes with a layer of cream and pleasant, warm toastiness. Incredibly versatile with all styles of food!
Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery specializes in Methode Champenoise sparkling wines. Family owned and run, the New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-based sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines, with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house in Bethon, France. More than 25 vintages later, Gruet Winery has achieved unprecedented acclaim and remains a favorite of the nation’s top sommeliers.

Sigh…love their Brut but not as enthusiastic about the Sauvage or Blanc de Noir. I keep hoping they will offer a full case of just the Brut, but after all these years that dream is fading. It means I have to pay a couple dollars more per bottle at Trader Joe’s for the perk of only buying Brut.
I’ve been drinking Gruet sparkling wine from New Mexico since they came out in 1989. Helped them sell their first wine in California to Corti Brothers in Sacramento. I think they are one of the best sparkling wines made in America. Always like to have some in my cellar and i make my own Jana sparkling wine. We started harvest yesterday picking Syrah early for an Austrian style red sparkler. I’m in.

Always like these. Especially the Sauvage.

This savage in Indiana really wanted that Sauvage.

@gio
Or find someone to split with that wants the others.
Definite case buy; only recently drank the last bottle from last time it was offered.

@ScottHarveyWine Now if that’s not a recommendation with maximum credibility, I don’t know what is…
@ScottHarveyWine Austrian style red sparkler?! I’m in!
Love this. Just have a lot in the cellar right now. I guess I need to celebrate more.
