Gruet Sauvage NV is a bone-dry sparkler, pale straw in color with a delicate but persistent mousse. The aromas of bright mineral and citrus notes tickle the nose followed by touches of green apple, lemon, and grapefruit. The finish is structured, flavorful, and long. The bright acidity makes this wine a perfect pairing for oysters, sushi, and cream sauces.

@james You misread the âNVâ after "Vintage"and thought it was âNAâ? Or the copy originally said âNAâ there and someone corrected it after you posted? Not getting what you meant.
I was sent a bottle of Gruet Sauvage Blanc. The wine is completely translucent and light as air. The only thing I taste so far is sour grapes. Thatâs because of UPS being UPS. Which is to say that they cannot seem to figure out how to properly redirect the package, so I have not yet received the wine.
The most recent update says it will be delivered by 9pm tomorrow, December 14th. I will not be able to pick it up tomorrow evening, unfortunately.
I appreciate the opportunity but will be unable to fulfill my duty. For those who enjoy reading convoluted tracking information, see below. Note that I made the mistake of calling customer service at one point to ask where the package was and the ESL representative to whom I spoke tried to tell me that the address was different and told me my home address. I confirmed that was my home address but that I had re-directed the package. Somehow they thought it would be a good idea to change it back to my home address, so I had to re-re-direct the package. And so it goes, around and aroundâŠ

The saga continues. Today, UPS attempted delivery at my home address. Somehow they are just not getting the memo. Now I have just re-re-re-directed it back to the correct pickup location. Maybe it will arrive in time for the next Gruet offer!

After they tried to deliver it to my house that day, it went back on the merry go round for a couple more days of âout for delivery todayâ in the morning to âredirected and forwarded to the delivery centerâ in the afternoon. Finally, as of 9 pm Friday night it said âheld for pickupâ. The UPS app says it is at the Advance Auto Parts (where I redirected it) but the text update I received says it is at the UPS hub, 45 minutes away. At least they stopped the carnival ride but now I have to figure out where they actually stopped it.

You are correct. These are still very enjoyable wines and they provide great QPR. However, some people feel the wines were a bit better though when the grapes were sourced from New Mexico, rather than California.
@bdb Yes. Gruet was an auto-buy for me before, and itâs not now. For a few $ per bottle more I can usually get something of higher quality now, sadly.
Have to join the gripe about UPS. Waiting for a previous wine delivery today eta was 9:00-11:00AM, now its âBefore 9:00PMâ. Since a signature is required and there is no way to redirect without subscribing to the âUPS Clubâ its very annoying. Their customer service is non-existent, unreachable and does not respond. They had a bad year in my book with missed deliveries and damaged goods they denied responsibility for.

So, I finally got the Gruet Sauvage on December 21st. My LW and I tried it with a meal of fried chicken and pasta in marinara. Surprisingly, it paired better with the pasta (especially after a healthy shake of grated parmesan) than the chicken.
Neither my wife nor I especially cared for the Gruet Sauvage, with or without food. For me, there was a bitter note that did not go away and we both perceived some sweetness despite the zero dosage. Weird.

I really enjoyed the Gruet Sauvage RosĂ©. Makes sense though since I truly enjoy a Pinot Noir wine. This Sparkling Rose is very light, yet full of flavor. I would prefer this over a Champagne if I were entertaining for letâs sayâŠNew Yearâs Eve. Pairing with a nice halibut filet with shaved white truffles and a butter sauce. HmmmâŠI think I have my New Years Eve menu planned.

The estimated delivery window is almost always later than the actual delivery date, quite significantly in most cases.
Since it states these will arrive in time for NYE, you can count on that to be the case.

Did I read in another thread that folks around here used to love Gruet, but it has slipped recently? Or am I mis-remembering?

We both enjoyed the Sauvage Rosé previously but the Sauvage Blanc de Blancs is best used for Mimosas IMHO.
