2019 Browne Family Vineyards Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley
Tasting Notes
Typically an on-premise exclusive, this wine is a fan favorite of Browne lovers and always keeps our customers coming back for more. Aromatics of leather and toasted oak lead to flavors of black plum, black pepper, and chocolate covered cherries. This wine has big tannins but is round and approachable on the finish with notes of toasted oak, anise, and black cherry.
The 2019 vintage in Washington State proved to be a cooler and wetter year than the last several vintages. Still, a rainy September and brief cold snap in mid-October didn’t keep this harvest from showing brighter and very balanced wines. Wines are presenting with phenolic ripeness without the higher sugars shown in the last few vintages. Washington was on a warming trend since 2012, until 2019 came along to serve as a reminder that Mother Nature is in full control and will keep the viticulture teams expecting the unexpected.
Food Pairing: Pairs perfectly with pulled pork and grilled red meats.

We enjoyed this wine with a NY strip steak . Medium bodied with a complex smooth and velvety mouthfeel. Fruit forward with a vanilla finish. Fresh leather and almost a cocoa flavor once it opens. This is a great Cab at a good price point and Browne checked all the boxes on what we look for in a Cab. I would recommend purchasing.

Had the pleasure of ratting this wine, bottle was chilled once received from UPS. Paired with some aged sharp cheddar to start and followed with grilled steak, roasted potatoes seasoned with rosemary and side of broccolini.
Wine has a darker rubi red hue to it, visually very inviting. We did not pick up much on the nose, almost muted, mild red berries, surprisingly mellow.
Initial taste shared similar characteristics as the nose, somewhat muted, low to medium tannins, very mellow and not very bold.
Giving this wine time to open up allowed this wine to shine a bit more.
The wine really opened up, filling the glass with big floral aromas followed by cherries and sweet currants.
Wife and I were not too fond of this bottle due to its subtle mellow characteristics even after it opened up. This would be a good table wine to start the night and share with friends.

They have this wine in the Diamond Club at the Mariners game. I tasted every wine there and deemed this one the best one. I don’t really need a daily drinker cab, but if you do, can’t go wrong here.

One way to describe this cab: airplane wine. I should have known better since the label shows up on Alaska Airlines. Just happy I kept to half a case.
