2020 Levo Vineyard Tearing at the Seams, Central Coast

For our Petite Sirah lovers, the wait is over, as this new blend is PS-based with a sprinkle of Grenache and Syrah. We held this wine back to age for an additional year in bottle, which made all the difference. THIS WINE IS DELICIOUS!

Paso Robles is a sun-drenched wonderland for grape growers. Levo aims to raise vines and wines of pleasure – that screams California – while maintaining an elegant sense of levity and lift. Levo Vineyard began as a seemingly unattainable dream – rising from nothing. No college degrees, consultants, or family history in the wine business. Just faith in a grand vision of Rhone perfection and a deep desire to share the fruits of our labor with members who believed in us all along. Levo Vineyard is born.
We are dedicated to producing wines of Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah, and various experimental varieties that thrive in Willow Creek District in Paso Robles, CA. Our organically farmed vineyards lie on steep hillsides and rolling canyons perfused with calcareous shale, limestone, and oak forest. This microclimate’s unique soil composition, exposure, and close proximity to the Pacific Ocean create wines of great density, electricity, and verve. In the cellar and vineyard, we strive to be honest in our actions and movements to encapsulate our vineyard’s identity in a bottle. We are not dogmatic in our approach and understand that each wine, vintage, and vineyard has a unique voice and path towards authenticity and speaking to where it was grown and raised.
We invite you to join us on our vinous adventure,

JEB DUNNUCK: 94 points. Blueberries, violets, toasted spices, iron, and peppery herbs all emerge from the 2020 Tearing At The Seams, a seamless, full-bodied, deep, concentrated, beautifully textured red with tons to love. Based on 75% Petite Sirah, 15% Syrah, and 10% Grenache, aged 16 months in 84% new barrels, it can be drunk any time over the coming 7-8 years, if not longer.
Merchant of Wine(?) did a zoom tasting. At the 52:50 mark or so this wine and winery is discussed although he seems to mention a different vintage blend so who knows, just more useless information right?
@KingKoopa Absolutely! This wine is tasting great right now pop and pour. With a decant even better. My favorite window is 1-3 years. However, for wine lovers that like to cellar wines I feel like our Petite Sirah’s hit their stride and start to show secondary/tertiary notes between 3-6 years but could easily go to 10 years.
Bret here - owner and winemaker at Levo Vineyard. Thank you for the opportunity to share our wine today!
Excited to offer our 2020 Tearing at the Seams Red Blend. Don’t hesitate to respond with any questions on the wine.
Here are some basic tech notes from our website -->
TATs is by far our best QPR offering in our wine portfolio, our “gateway drug” and ambassador. It is a selection of our ripest lots that are picked towards the end of harvest. The maturity of fruit creates soft, ripe tannins resulting in a generous black and blue fruited wine that still maintains great acidity and freshness from the limestone rich soils the grapes are farmed on.
@levovineyard we can tend to be a bit geeky here; any chance you have some additional labs? pH, RS TA and such…?
Oh, and welcome! Always good to have the producer chime in.
@Boatman72@levovineyard chiming in with tech notes and any other information or just chatting to get to know the community is a great move! Nice to meet another (hopefully to return) winemaker!

Yeah, rats would have been a big bonus here. Can’t recall the last time I saw such a high percentage for the small offer. Larry @tercerowines was a good endorsement as well, and as such I’ll join in for the sample set and hope to see you around again, with a bit more support.
Thanks for joining in with us.
Oh, and how long might you think this could properly cellar?
@Boatman72@klezman@levovineyard@rjquillin@WCCWineGirl@Winedavid49 I think Bret mentioned cellar time above but I could be wrong. There are lots of offers from wineries I am not familiar with - this one is different. As I said above, purchase w confidence . . .
@GatorFL I guess I will not be receiving this after all - UPS update - “The package has been damaged. All merchandise has been discarded and the sender will be notified.” Emailed Casemates customer service and currently awaiting an update.
@kopecki They refunded me. FYI - there is some of this wine still available on the UC bankruptcy clearance sale at just under $10 a bottle although shipping adds to the cost (they charged me over $50 to ship to the East Coast to ship a case of the Soul3d Out Syrah which has now sold out!).

Bravo!
@rjquillin Agree. And not a huge penalty for the smaller purchase. Not exactly my wheelhouse but a 3-pack under consideration. Some good chatter.
Bret is one impressive dude - purchase w confidence!
@tercerowines Thank you for the kind words Larry! Its been too long my friend. Will drop in next time in in SYV. Happy Holidays!!!

Where are those pesky RATS hiding! This is a one day offer, so pop those corks!
I agree. Without RATS, guess only in for 3, unless someone in Tampa wants to split a case?
In for a 3 pack
Ok getting late. I guess no rats. But I’m in cause I like sirah as a nice change up.

Is this shipping soon?
@KingKoopa I was wondering the same but the write-up says the estimated delivery date is January 16 so should be on its way soon
It’s now 1/17 and no shipping notification. This one really coming?
@GatorFL mine shipped on 1/10 and arriving on East Coast tomorrow - fingers crossed it is not frozen!
@GatorFL I guess I will not be receiving this after all - UPS update - “The package has been damaged. All merchandise has been discarded and the sender will be notified.” Emailed Casemates customer service and currently awaiting an update.
@ctmariner Well I finally emailed Casemates and they told me the winery shorted them and mine should ship Monday. So fingers crossed.
@GatorFL They refunded me as they said no more was available! Hope you enjoy it when it finally arrives!
@ctmariner Just checked out my order, had the same damaged notification…Wondering if they will resend or refund

@ctmariner I finally got this Wednesday and enjoyed a bottle last night. It’s fantastic!
@kopecki FYI - the wine on UC is the 2018 which is a different blend.
@GatorFL Good to know - enjoy!
I didn’t order this one, but with the very cold weather across the majority of the country, shipping might have been purposely delayed.
