I was surprised to see my shipment originating from Earth City, MO from ‘Wineshipping’ for my Dusi Pinot Grigio (which still shows as ‘Processing’ on CM). Appears to be working, as bottles were no more than room temp. Nice!
I was notified yesterday by UPS of an arrival today of the Mixed Vintage Mystery Mission from Found Wine, also coming via Mound City (I live in Morgan County). I’m late on the UPS route, so it will have been in the truck all day (about 86 outside), so I’ll have a thermometer ready to check the bottle temps when it arrives. Casemates order status still shows “Processing” (I wonder what would happen if I click “Cancel this”?).

hello. refrigerated trucks will be used to get to hubs across the country. once handed off, it will be 1 and sometimes 2 day transit. packages are consolidated weekly.
for northwest and a few other states, it will be styro and an ice pack (when necessary) to be included.
i’m happy to answer any more questions about this.

Sadly, it seems like something about this process may have broken UPS tracking. I just had an issue where I got a notification/tracking number from Casemates but it never showed up in my UPS My Choice interface. I could still track the package using the number from the Casemates order details, but the UPS system didn’t seem to recognize it as being shipped to my address. This meant that I couldn’t look up the detailed information or, more importantly, redirect it to a local UPS store. I get shipments fairly often this way (including from Casemates) and this has never happened before. I called UPS and they told me the problem was that the shipper (Casemates) hadn’t uploaded electronic billing information with the package and that even the UPS agents couldn’t see information on the package because of it. I wrote Casemates and was told that was incorrect. I was told that Casemates HAD uploaded the information and that UPS could just manually sync the package to my account. So I called UPS AGAIN, only to be told AGAIN, that there was nothing they could do. They couldn’t even, apparently, manually sync it to my address because the package was essentially impossible to manipulate in their system until the error, which they again blamed on Casemates, was fixed. I was told that the package would travel based on the address on the label, but that UPS couldn’t do anything else with it but track it as the label was scanned. I ended up having to come back two days early to be around for the package. I don’t know about others, but I rely on the ability to redirect packages. Casemates is somewhat random on when they’ll ship something and the ability to redirect has saved me any number of times. I’m frustrated that I will have to stop or sharply reduce the offers I participate in if the UPS redirect won’t work. Right now, I’m hoping it’s a glitch with the summer shipping, since this has never happened to me before (and I’ve shipped other cases both during and outside of the summer shipping window). Has anyone else seen this happen?
@jwNC summer shipping uses a cold chain process. They send the packages on a refrigerated truck across the country to a regional hub. The last mile carrier (UPS) doesn’t scan or get the info until the package gets into their hands at the handover. I’m not that surprised there might be a delay between CM sending you the tracking info and then uploading it to UPS.
Perhaps @WineDavid59 could add more nuanced or detail here, but this is my understanding of summer shipping.

@Mark_L My shipment arrived about 15 minutes ago. Bottle temps about 85F (standard cardboard). Probably OK.
@Mark_L mine finally arrived Thursday afternoon bottle temperature 86.7

Are Florida shipments in styrofoam?
@fibercot
I’m thinking not.
I did recently receive (SoCal) a shipment, pulp, with a pretty much worthless sized ice pack.
@fibercot @rjquillin
Still using frozen ketchup packs? lol
@fibercot @ScottW58
slightly larger, I need to post a pic
