The menu for the May 18th dinner is finally out, and it looks terrific. Already made dinner and room reservations. It’s always a great time.
After dinner tasting in the “Library” downstairs. You don’t want to miss this.
@ddeuddeg Thanks for posting this, I meant to get around to it earlier. We will be there, along with some work friends that attended in 2016 and maybe some other OH Casemates! I hope you asked to be seated with us?
@chipgreen I did ask to be seated with you, and Zack said he’d take care of it. Looking forward to seeing you and your lovely bride. It’s been a while.
@RascalMJ I’ve never been, but apart from the info on the flier linked above, you can read here about some prior dinners attended by wooters in days gone by.
@RascalMJ If you want to attend, just call the number at the bottom of the flyer that ddeuddeg linked to above to make dinner reservations. They may or may not have rooms still available to stay overnight as well, if they do make sure to ask for the discounted rate associated with attending the dinner. If not, there are a number of lodging options nearby.
@InFrom Thanks for posting that link, I updated it with the threads from the 2 most recent Scott & Jana dinners in 2015/2016. They did not host a dinner in Wooster last year and will not be hosting one next year either, so maybe you should also consider making the trek?
Thanks for the posting Don. We’ll be heading to Sanibel, Florida that morning to work on a tan I can’t seem to get in OH! Tell Jana and Scott that we said “Hi” and sorry that we missed them this year! We’ll be taking his wine down to FL again this year for the 5th year in a row. It’s a hit with all the friends that show up! Also, hope to pour it at our son’s wedding in November. Future DIL loves his Barbera!
Just a note to those who are new… everyone usually brings a nice bottle to share after dinner, downstairs in the “library” but it’s not mandatory. Scott & Jana usually join us for the after dinner fun as well.
This sounds amazing! Just moved to Columbus from Colorado. The new job (which doesn’t start until next week) wants to send me to Scotland that week but hasn’t started making the arrangements yet. What are the chances there will still be a spot available if I wait another week or so to call?
@banner This dinner typically sells out, but it wouldn’t do any harm to call the Wooster Inn and ask about the availability at the moment, and what they think about next week. They’re very friendly folks there, and I’m sure they wouldn’t mind answering those questions.
@banner You can always make a reservation now and then cancel later (I think cancellation is free up until 48 hours before the event, but they can tell you that for sure). They do take your CC info upon registration and typically charge it the day before the dinner.
NEO Wino’s that love a great dinner, great wine, and a great time in the Library with the Harvey’s, Casemates, and Wooters, better snap up those last 4 spaces!!! More importantly, even if you attend the dinner and you’d like to know more about Scott and Jana or the Casemates site, this is the place to be!! Some of us would be there if only the stars would have aligned properly. Did I emphasize “great” enough? As others stated earlier, even if the limited rooms are sold out at the Inn, there are plenty of rooms 5 minutes away!
I soooooo wish I could make it to one of these dinners, but Friday nights are hard. I never seem to plan enough in advance to make it. I even have a friend in Wooster who I’d love to see. I’ll make it some day .
@karenhynes Karen, I forget where you live, but get to Wooster. I know that Fridays are hard. Take a day off! You deserve it! I am skipping school on Friday.
I got distracted this weekend and forgot to buy the Zeppelin deal. Anyone who’s going to the Wooster Inn dinner buy this weekend’s deal and interested in a belated split? Really looking forward to Friday!
@banner If you’re still interested in a split, let me know. The wine will be here Thursday, but I’m in no hurry. We can work out the details. Meanwhile, when you get a chance, if you can find the Clean but Interesting Jokes thread on wine.woot, go to the last post on the last page, and scroll to the signature link to find Ddeuddeg’s Cheesecake Cookbook. The Tips for Success page is in there.
@ddeuddeg, sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to you. Been out of the country for business and haven’t had a chance to get to anything back here. I would say re: wine split not to worry about it since I don’t know when we’ll get a chance to meet up. I’m sure there will be another opportunity for me to buy it. Thanks for the cheesecake link!
Having never been to one before, it was a very enjoyable time. The wooters/casemates were very friendly and welcoming, and whatever you hear about Scott and Jana is true: wonderful people.
It is too bad it will be two years before it happens again, but would highly recommend.
It was fun to see old friends and meet new ones. Great food, great wine and great people!
It was a nice surprise to meet KNmeh, his Dad and their lovely ladies. Thanks for bringing the library Wellingtons, both were excellent.
Thanks to scott0210 for bringing the Helen Keplinger Vermillion. I had been wanting to try one of her wines since reading about her a year ago.
Hats off to banner for making the trek from Columbus via Colorado and enroute to Scotland! Will have to visit you at BrewDog this summer…
Always wonderful to spend time with bahwm and ddeuddeg, they are Woot/Casemates Royalty! Thanks for bringing the Gewurz ice wine, it was pure nectar.
Sad that Scott & Jana will not be at The Inn next year but there are some other interesting wine dinners lined up for 2019. As of now, we are most interested in the February Arbios dinner (whose Praxis Vio is up for sale right now) and the Mac McDonald dinner in May. Hopefully we can get some peeps together for one or more of them. Buena Vista in March and Keenan in April also look intriguing…
Thanks for the info @chipgreen. Sorry I missed Scott and Jana. Was flying to Ft Myers, then spent time on Sanibel greeting Alberto with his 40 mph winds!! BUT we had Scott’s Barbera and Zin and Peter’s Cab just in case we got locked in!!! Let me check out the WI 2019 schedule. Let me know which ones you are a definite on. You can call me if easier than posting!!
Can you attach a link? Would love to check it out, not too bad of a drive from Pittsburgh.
@fredpgh I don’t know how to make it a live link, but here’s the url: http://www.thewoosterinn.com/docs/upcoming-events/2018-3-15/Wine-Dinner-5-18-2018-Scott-Harvey.pdf
I guess just pasting it in makes it a live link. Cool.
@ddeuddeg awesome, thanks! Maybe we’ll see you there!
@ddeuddeg Thanks for posting this, I meant to get around to it earlier. We will be there, along with some work friends that attended in 2016 and maybe some other OH Casemates! I hope you asked to be seated with us?
@chipgreen I’m attending but I didn’t ask to be seated with anybody, should I? Have reservations for two but I’ve yet to find a worthy date lol.
@chipgreen I did ask to be seated with you, and Zack said he’d take care of it. Looking forward to seeing you and your lovely bride. It’s been a while.
@ddeuddeg Very nice, can’t wait!
Won’t be there again this year. With a May 5th due date for the wife, won’t be feasible. Enjoy.
@North316 2 weeks, that’s the perfect age for his or her first visit to the grandparents!
Sad to say we’ll miss this great event again this year…heading to Sedona and Santa Fe.
Thanks for keeping everyone informed!!!
How does this work exactly? Sorry, I’m a newb.
@RascalMJ I’ve never been, but apart from the info on the flier linked above, you can read here about some prior dinners attended by wooters in days gone by.

@chipgreen I gotta say, reading the first report, it had me thinking… But no, not this year at least.
We’ll think of you all while we’re sipping our vinho verde in Lisbon!
@InFrom Bah! Why go to Portugal when you could visit Ohio instead?
@chipgreen
Whoops, I didn’t see the link. Ha
@RascalMJ It helps!
I won’t be able to attend that day either, sadly.

@banner @North316 Solid advice here. Even better than mine.
I just spoke with the Wooster Inn, to make sure that we’re seated with chipgreen and his lovely +1, and I also learned that the dinner is not yet sold out. So, there’s still time to make your reservations for an always memorable event. Here’s a link with the menu details and contact info: http://www.thewoosterinn.com/docs/upcoming-events/2018-3-15/Wine-Dinner-5-18-2018-Scott-Harvey.pdf
As of 10 am Friday, May 4th, there are 4 spaces available per email.

@bahwm
I’m in Chicago, so not a bad drive. Things are too hectic (shorthanded) at work this spring. I’ll try to make one someday!
I got distracted this weekend and forgot to buy the Zeppelin deal. Anyone who’s going to the Wooster Inn dinner buy this weekend’s deal and interested in a belated split? Really looking forward to Friday!

Cliff Lede should also be excellent.
@chipgreen Definitely come visit BrewDog! Great to meet you all.
Thanks to my LW for taking the pic.
