Discover a treasure chest of flavors. Jammy fruit, pepper and spice, mulberry, and spice cake come together in the aroma to a rich full-bodied wine with bright red-purple fruit. The dark chocolate umami center extends to a lingering finish balance with a light astringency. Oak aging contributes to the rounded complexity with just a hint of sweetness. Try this wine with any grilled meat or chicken, or pair with pizza, pasta, and burgers!

After decades of creating and crafting premium wines for wineries like Santino and Folie a Deux – and putting Amador County on the map as a world-class appellation – Scott Harvey launched his own winery in 2004. With decades of winemaking experience on two continents, it’s no wonder his wines have become an immediate sensation. It’s an overnight success 35 years in the making. (Oh, and Scott’s not too shabby with a pen, either.)

Color: Pale Ruby and Showing legs
Nose - Pop’n’Pour: tight; violet, blueberry, leather, cinnamon, new oak. Alcohol is present, a little hot
Taste: cherry and plum, jammy, medium-acid
Finish: medium smooth tannin
Pop’n’Pour - Overall, an average wine…. Would be happy to be served this at a casual (non-wine focused) event, could be a crowd pleaser; easy to approach with juicy / jammy flavors without being over-the-top. I could see this really rummy with some grilled burgers, or slow cooked BBQ.
With some snacks:
• Jambon de bayonne – wine brings out the copper/minerality of the meat and clashes; no yum
• Deviled eggs – did just fine, acid cleared the palate nicely.
• Manchego Cheese – interesting, this brough out sheepyness and I don’t mind that
• Soumaintrain Cheese – , brought out that ammonia; no yum
Decant (~1hr): Wow this wine is much more congruent, velvety.
Nose -violet, sweet/pipe tobacco, plum, oak, a little vanilla with cinnamon
Finish; medium lasting, smooth tannins, medium acidity (enough to clear palate.)
Post decant tasting, turned to the wife and said “I might actually buy this…”. The wine really came together after a decant which is good and bad. At this price point, I normally pull from the wine fridge and pop’n’pour with no really planning ahead; a weeknight wine. So to really enjoy it, would require some prior planning.
@KingKoopa This zin is an auto-buy for us. Most of the wines we enjoy need to breath for a bit so we keep our decanter at hand so we’re ready to enjoy these complex bottles when the mood strikes.
@KingKoopa This wine definitely gets better with air. This is one of my wife’s favorite wines and a go to meal around here is a prosciutto arugula Neapolitan pizza paired with InZinerator. I was a little surprised at your pairings- how about a red sauce pizza or some pasta? It’s a Zin!!
@wnance normally would have planned much better, but received Rat notice in the AM and recieved wine by the afternoon. Add in infant twins and… had to try it with what I had around
@rjquillin@Rstoker The wording is correct. The images are the error. Sorry for any confusion. I’ve updated the images but it doesn’t seem to have taken so they’ll remain flipped for now. My apologies once gain for the error.
Love this wine and normally can’t pass on a Scott Harvey offer, but we are planning to visit the winery in about 2 weeks! I imagine we’ll buy something in person.
I’ve been shocked over the past year or two with the comments.
A few years back, a Scott Harvey offering would become a 100+ discussion. Over 24 hours in, we are sitting at 11.
As always, this one is an autobuy for me! I remember getting all gitty for inzinerator back on the old site and never looked back!
@Drez143@kitkat34
I’d love to try this, but I just have too much wine. I’ve bought four cases here just since June, and another 2 or 3 since March. Need to lower the inventory, and free up some space. As much as I love Scott Harvey’s wines, I’m just out of room.
How much more are you saving by buying a full case?

@winer Call Jana @ 415 264-5641 and ask if they will honor the Casemates price. They sometimes can use a 3rd party delivery service. Scott had me do this a while back
I’m in for a case! Hubby had just asked, “Why aren’t you buying wine? Looks like you are getting low.” And along comes SH Inzinerator. One of my faves. Now if we can just see some Barbera.
Cheers!
Long story: With three children now in college, I stopped buying wine 7 months ago. My wife has been going through our “cellar” (really is in the basement) and using the wine up. She tried to start with what looked the cheapest and has been working her way up. She doesn’t want to serve “expensive” bottles when I am not there, I guess. Anyway, I was out of town, some family friends came over, and she saw two bottles of Inzinerator sitting by themselves on a shelf. Though she knows and loves Scott Harvey Barbera and Zinfindel, she didn’t see the “Scott Harvey” on the label and thought it looked, well, cheap-ish. She served it to the two couples who came over. Turns out one couple was in a wine making class and had never tasted anything like the Inzinerator. The other couple are red wine fans and had also never had anything like it. Both couples loved it. My wife was then afraid that she had unknowingly served an expensive bottle and that I would be upset. No such problem (never is, actually): she made our friends happy, and I guess I have to replenish the stock. Can’t just have one bottle left. I guess I will have to start a new wine buying moratorium, starting tomorrow
Citizens of Casemates, I was going about my normal Clark Kent routine at the home lair, when there was a disturbance on the front porch. I reviewed my surveillance system and noticed a man with a small box who seemed lost, so I immediately sprang into action. I relieved the lost man of his package and sent him on his way.
Inside I discovered a liquid potion, with a proclamation on the bottle “Wine for the Superhero!”
How serendipitous…
First Whiff: Notes of cherry and jammy fruit.
First Sip: Medium tannins, smooth mouthfeel, more jammy flavors, and the higher alcohol content adds a weight.
Summary: At 15% I didn’t get much of any alcohol on the nose, and it struck a nice balanced. Overall the wine was full bodied, smooth, and definitely something I’d pair with a hearty meal. I’ve enjoyed a case of the 2018 Scott Harvey Zin in the past. This was my first Inzinerator, and while heavier it was a nice change of pace.
Hi Everyone, Sorry I did not get on earlier. With harvest going on I have been rather busy. All of our whites are in and started with reds on Friday. This is one our first InZinerators in a while that does not have any Syrah. I usually add 5 to 10% Syrah. But, this year the wine was better without it. The Femme Knight label is 2019 and has 5% Syrah where the regular label is 2020 and has no Syrah. Will be interesting to taste them together and get your comments.
Cheers,
Scott

@KingKoopa Can you confirm you ratted the '19?
@KingKoopa This zin is an auto-buy for us. Most of the wines we enjoy need to breath for a bit so we keep our decanter at hand so we’re ready to enjoy these complex bottles when the mood strikes.
@rjquillin Yes, it was the '19

@KingKoopa Understood and forgiven. With infant twins I’m willing to chip in to help you get the case deal…
The description says 4x inzinerator and 2x Femme Knight but when placing an order the picture has the opposite. Which is it?
@Rstoker working on it…

@ElKabong If you like this wine this is a far better price than you’d get at the winery. Save your $ there for the white label and 1869.

@Drez143 @jlim13 I mean, what’s left to say? “Oh! Scott Harvey today.”

@Drez143 I agree, maybe its the holiday weekend. Scott Harvey wines are wonderful.
@Drez143 I was thinking the same thing!
@Drez143 well it’s now double the comments compared to the Tin Barn Merlot, Woop de doo!

@gillisr I like the concept of rolling moratoria. . .
