After decades of creating and crafting premium wines for wineries like Santino and Folie a Deux – and putting Amador County on the map as a world-class appellation – Scott Harvey launched his own winery in 2004. With decades of winemaking experience on two continents, it’s no wonder his wines have become an immediate sensation. It’s an overnight success 35 years in the making.
Today begins our 2020 holiday gift week. Starting with this offer through Friday’s offer will be accompanied by a small carefully selected Casemates related gift. Happy Holidays!

@klezman@rjquillin yeah I was just wishful shopping through the available large formats on their site. How many sets y’all grabbing each? Thinking on grabbing an extra single bottle on top of the set I compulsively ordered.
@klezman@rjquillin just before we left Connecticut, we had brought a magnum of 2004 InZinerator to a farewell (socially distanced) gathering. Still in lovely shape, very fruity, and with noticeable residual sugar…
Hi Everyone, Great to be back on casemates. The only Jana magnum is the Cathedral that is part of the mix. The rest are all Scott Harvey wines from Vineyard 1869, Old Vine Reserves and Mt. Selection Zinfandel, Barbera, Petite Sirah and Tempranillo. 2008 to 2018 vintages.
Cheers,
Scott
@ScottHarveyWine I’ve had some of the Mt. Selection Zins, Barbera’s, Red blends, and Angel Eis from ya. I’m stoked that there may be a chance to try some of the others I’ve always wanted to get. Cheers!
@rjquillin@rpm I have a Magnum I won during the 2010 for when we did that blind tasting contest. I think it’s one of the few that didn’t have port added to it. Probably getting on time to drink it, too!
Concur. Sortof- in my case, I enjoyed Inzinerator a lot…but I really really like this improvisational approach to the sale, and hope for something a little more novel! Cathedral would indeed be pretty amazing. More to be grateful for as an odd holiday season approaches, perhaps?

Scott Harvey Wines Random Red Magnum - $25 = 20.82%
@chipgreen I always appreciate these posts, but this one with the QUOTE “random” (They already know what they are sending) makes the comparison unfair. The fact you order a single and you are getting more expensive bottles than the double–per the gurantee–makes your comparison useless.
I bet people that order singles are going to get Jana and the doubles are going to get two Zins. Not that it isn’t a good deal, but this isn’t my first rodeo.
@chipgreen@KNmeh7 The discount from the stated minimum value is 33% for the single and 40% for the double. But $89 retail is basically the red label Zin/Barbera/Syrah. $120 for the white label. More for Cathedral and 1869. The Tempranillo is a bit lower in magnum, so that’s probably excluded from the single-bottle purchases.
@klezman@KNmeh7
Agree it’s not apples to apples although I would hope that the % of 2-mag buyers getting Cathedral is at least as high as those buying only 1 mag. Typically (if anything) those buying the larger allotment get rewarded.
The notable exception to that (which still irks me) was the Iron Horse mystery case that actually cost 2 cents more than two 6-packs and they put a bunch of premium bottles into the 6-packs so that there was no advantage to buying the full case.
Hi Everyone,
I answered a few questions above. The magnums are; the Jana magnum is the Cathedral that is part of the mix. The rest are all Scott Harvey wines from Vineyard 1869, Old Vine Reserves and Mt. Selection Zinfandel, Barbera, Petite Sirah and Tempranillo. 2008 to 2018 vintages. No InZinerator.
I’ll check in through out the day. Happy holidays.
Cheers,

In for four, because I needed a bunch of miles I can’t use For our 20th anniversary we actually did a virtual wine tasting zoom meeting with Jana and Scott and maybe a dozen other folks right before halloween… they even arranged for virtual live music. It was a fun evening, very relaxing, and neat that they were able to do a short turn around on the shipping… wines arrived the day before the tasting. Hope to do that again… it was nice to exhale for a little while and feel virtually normal

Hi Everyone,
Setting here in isolation at home. On Thursday the19th I found out that I was exposed to Covid last Monday the 16th. Friday evening the 20th I started showing systems and have been in isolation ever since. Came down with extreme symptoms of head ache, dry cough, shortness of breath and fatigue and soreness. Lost 10 pounds. Got tested on Tuesday the 24th and results just came back now as positive. I’ll tell you it is a tough way to lose ten pounds. Do not have a temperature and have not lost my sense of smell or taste. Thank goodness.
Cheers,
Scott
@ScottHarveyWine Sorry Scott I don’t even want to click the “Like” button, because it’s not a situation to “like,” but I will click anyway, because we want to hear from you and of course wish the best recovery for you. Thanks for sharing that message. Please keep us updated on the forum even after this deal. As you know many of us here have shared both wine-related and totally unrelated personal stories. Be assured this is one personal story we all care about! Be well soon!
@rjquillin Hi Ron,
I have heard of it, but don’t know anyone that has taken out such insurance. The company does have key man life insurance on me, but not my nose only.
@ScottHarveyWine hope you feel better and start the recovery to 100% as soon as possible, Count me with those that liked the comment but hated that you are sick!
@ScottHarveyWine get well soon! Fatigue was the lasting symptom my wife had. She was back to work in 12 days, but didn’t really get over the fatigue for probably 3 weeks. She would come home dead tired after work every day and immediately take a nap. So rest a lot, stay hydrated, eat when u feel like it, and get better!
@ScottHarveyWine, my in-laws just came off a bad bout with this selectively-nasty virus. I’m happy to see that you’re well enough to still interact with our online community. I hope for you a quick and comfortable recovery.
Thanks for all the well wishes. Jana is doing fine so far. She has a test scheduled for Monday. She has lost her ability to taste. Good thing we really like each other. It’s just the two of us for the next couple of weeks. Looking forward to trying the Rioja I bought a case of yesterday when all this is over.
Cheers
@ScottHarveyWine Best wishes for a quick recovery for everyone. Looking forward to another zoom meeting with you guys again when it’s an appropriate time Get some rest and thanks for the wine that really shows the all the effort you’ve thrown into it. Go take a nap I insist. And I’m the nap king. (not a napkin… that’s something completely different). But seriously, take time to get healthy and take care of you and yours.
I hope my in-laws like this. I ordered two bottles to be shipped to their house. They live in California and their standards for good wine are higher than the bargain bin
@mcvick If they don’t like the wine, then they don’t like the grapes. Scott does everything justice. You are likely to get a zin, and who knows. It is great wine, but peoples preferences are peoples preferences. That said, this is likely to be fantastic wine, whatever randomness ensues.
@KNmeh7 I’d probably help them out with consuming them but we are 2500 miles apart and most likely not hopping on a plane anytime soon. It feels really icky saying this but I think they will open at least one with friends at a get-together. Hopefully it will be after a widespread rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine. While they like red wines on the drier side of the spectrum, they also like free wine.
Honest question: Why do people get excited about magnums? Like many of you, I’m a big Scott Harvey fan, as my WW and Casemates history would certainly attest. However, I usually buy a case at ~$20/bottle. The idea of a double-bottle for about triple the price just doesn’t add up to me.
And to be clear, this has nothing to do with Scott’s wines in particular, just a general sentiment about magnum offerings.
@otisskavier they’re usually more expensive because you most often have to hand bottle larger formats. They don’t usually go through the standard bottling lines. It’s also supply and demand - 750 is the standard size so all of the supplies are cheaper, from bottles to corks to cases.
Why do people like them? They’re fun for those times when we can have larger gatherings again. If you have 10 people at a dinner you need a magnum so that everybody can have a proper glass of the same wine.
They also age differently from standard bottles - usually more slowly, but also just differently.
I agree. They definitely age better. I usually like to give large format bottles as birthyear gifts. When ever a new baby is born, I’ll give the parents a gift certificate for a large bottle of that vintage. Then two years later when we bottle the wine, they can redeem it. I’ll put in the box a write of that vintage and the winemaking sheets i kept while making the wine.
Cheers
@klezman@ScottHarveyWine Now that is an awesome and thoughtful idea! I definitely understand the large format appeal for special occasions and large gatherings. At my wedding, for example, we had a large bottle of champagne for the toast and we kept the bottle, signed by the bridal party, as a commemorative token. Perhaps it’s just my thrifty side that finds magnums on a wine deal site counterintuitive, versus shopping with intent for a special occasion. Nevertheless, despite having to pass on this offering, I’m certain I’d be happy with Scott’s wines in any format as long as the end result made it into my glass!
@klezman@otisskavier@ScottHarveyWine
Out of curiosity, you prompted me to look.
More from Peter than others, but still four from Scott, including that '04 and a Cathedral.
@klezman@otisskavier@ScottHarveyWine That is such a wonderful thing to do, Scott!! I have had birth year magnums for most of my kids to open when we celebrate their 21st birthday. Most have been from Peter Wellington. I have one 1869 magnum in the cellar from last year’s offer, and am looking forward to adding two more of Scott’s magnums from this offer!!
I also missed the 2-for but I got the 1+1 which is better than none and Scott Harvey wine was enough for me to break my SIWBM…
I too had the China virus in September 2020 and personally know of 50+ people who have had the virus. It sucks being sick but everyone fully recovered. The headaches were the worst and the loss of taste and smell was quite unusual too.
@nathanbsmith You’re right the extreme headache and dry nagging cough are the worst. Seems like the cough is starting to subside. Today is day 10. Thanks again for all the well wishes.
@nathanbsmith, it’s a variant of Corona virus. SARS-COV2. The disease is COVID-19. It is not the “China virus.” Don’t politicize this. I’m a pulmonary & critical care doctor. This is a public health issue, not a political issue.
Scott, so glad you all have weathered this well and pray for continued rapid recovery.
@sammypedram hi, I too and a health care professional - critical care Registered Nurse with working in the pharmaceutical research industry and whether or not you agree, Covid-19 is very much a political issue In the USA as well as the rest of the world. I am a patriot and natural born citizen of this great country and a lover of wine including the adult grape juice produces by Scott Harvey. God bless you, God bless Scott and Jana Harvey and God bless America.
I am feeling the need to pull a cork of something special from my cellar…
My first magnum purchase and I’m happy it’s Scott Harvey! My daughter learned to love red wine after we introduced her to InZinerator when she was 19 (yes, we were terrible parents) and she loves it still today at 35! I’m looking forward to sharing this favorite wine with my kids!
I’m fairly sure I may have bought the last bottle before it was all sold out. For some reason that makes me happy…looking forward to an amazing wine. Cheers
long time listener, first time caller. I got a shipping update saying I should see my delivery Saturday 12/5/20 but account info here shows it hasn’t even shipped and should be expected to be delivered 21st-23rd. does this sound common or do I potentially have a problem with my local shipping hub and possibly going to be delivered some nice red wine vinegar? Thanks in advance for any responses.
@omgjedis I’ve experienced getting the email from UPS when the label is printed, but it doesn’t start moving from WCC until the following week. Nothing to worry about yet, i would say.
@omgjedis@radiolysis
Keep in mind that Scott has to get the wines to WCC before WCC can ship them to us and Scott is trying to recover from Covid so it wouldn’t surprise me if there is a slight delay. Hopefully he and Jana are on the mend!
Dislike having wines sit in warehouse over the weekend because of shipment date. Not that I’m buying what I did there but this never happened on former site. Anyone else have this happen to them and any alternatives?
@shrimp74 Could be Christmas overload. I haven’t had an order spend a weekend on the road (or in a warehouse) since back when two day summer shipping began.
I got 1) The Griffin Society 2018 Mountain selection Zinfandel and 2) 2010 old vine reserve Zinfandel. plan to drink 1 and give 1 to my mom which one should I drink?
Just arrived. I got the Jana 2015 and the SH Zin 2018. Very excited to share the Jana on Christmas with our wee party of 4. It’ll be bright spot during the covid holidays.
Here’s what the UPS truck just dropped off at my place…two to match the other two I got from a previous offer. No worries…they’ll disappear eventually!
Received mine yesterday and was thrilled to get the 2015 Jana and 2016 J&S Barbera. Oh, and a Casemates neck gaiter! Could not be happier with those wines, and the swag is awesome too!
@ScottW58 You got the epic score! That or the 2010 Reserve Zin instead of Barbera would have been the pair I’d pick based on what’s been revealed so far.
Excellent hauls all around!
Did well, was kinda hoping for a Cathedral.
A pair of 2016 J&S Barbera along with a 2010 and 2017 Old Vine Reserve Zinfandel. Good thing I like those two.
And three each cork screws and tube socks, aka snot rags.
Suspense is killing me, I can see how I’d mix my four!
More importantly-- Thanks to Scott for shipping, hope the symptoms abated and everyone is good!
Got my magnum(s) for my own birthd ay
2017 Zin (Old Vine Reserve)
2017 Petit Syrah
2017 Petit Syrah
2017 Barbera (J+S Reserve)
Most pumped about the Barbera. Was hoping for Cathedral, as much for sharing the story as for the taste experience.
Was a fun offer, I like the wildcard element and hope it runs again.
@chipgreen Same message here in NEOhio. Called and was told there was a delay because of holiday shipping. Had wine shipped from California last week and got it in 4 days via FedEx; Monday ship to Friday delivery. Never a fan of UPS. What a letdown. Huge fan of former website but this purchase, in addition ratting once in over ten years while others get multiple freebies in a year, is so disappointing.
@klezman good karma for the multiple bottles of Wellington Chard I got in all 3 (identical) mystery Wellington red cases I ordered in the final woot blowout… I’ve been leary of mystery cases ever since…
@Allieroon - hopefully we’ll be able to have another Seattle area get together in the reasonably near future (I’m hoping next spring/summer) and I can share!
Doh never mind. The wording is a bit off. It says buy 2 and get 2 with min value of $160. Sounds very close to buy 2 and get 2 that u see in various stores. Maybe it should be written as buy 2 bottles worth a min of $160.
@deneed4spd Since there were some (relatively) cheaper bottles offered, the “deal” was that if you got just 1 bottle, you were guaranteed to get one of the “more premium” ones, whereas if you got 2 (and the 2fer price was much better per-bottle), it meant you may get one of the lower-priced ones (still excellent I’m sure). That’s why the numbers were wonky. But I never got the impression there was a “buy n get n Free” promo – the “Free” notably absent from the description.
I got a 2010 Old Vines Zin and a Griffin Zin from 2018. Was hoping for an older zin, so I’m thrilled. Last year I got lucky with a 2010 Cathedral and it was a fabulous birthday wine with prime rib.
As expected (seems the good bottles go out sooner than us who have to wait) I got average bottles. Griffin Zin, and 2010 Old Vines Zin. No Jana, no 1869, no J&S reserve, nothing special. At least they didn’t put a mountain selection in there.
3 (including mine) have the same box. Sorry, chipgreen, you are going to get a Griffin and an Old Vine. No randomness.
@KNmeh7 Check the back label of the Griffin society bottle. Not sure what would make this a wine club exclusive selection. Oh well, too bad there’s no love for Ohio.
@KNmeh7@shrimp74
Yes, the back label on the Griffin Zin seems to be a Mountain Zin back label. I did find it interesting that the little sliding scale on the back did not say “Old World” at one end and “New World” at the other. Instead it said “Elegant” and “Overly Jammy”, lol.
@klezman@KNmeh7
Agree that the OVZ is J&S Reserve equivalent but the Griffin Society Zin appears to be relabeled Mountain Zin. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
2017 1869 zin and 2018 Griffin Society zin. Looks like the Griffin is the red label mountain zin? Happy for the 1869, that makes 2 of those since I bought one on the earlier CM offer
@chipgreen Surprised we haven’t seen more, and also surprised how many Cathedrals popped up early. The 1869 is my favorite wine of Scott’s, I think, although I was eyeing that Petite Sirah earlier in the thread. I would have loved to get a Barbera magnum, but this is good!
@ecanada Since I have two, I might open one of my 2017 1869 zins over Christmas with a long decant or opening early and drinking slowly over the course of an evening. These are beautiful zins, and will get better with some air or more time in the bottle. I’ll probably open my second one in 5-6 years. Maybe Scott will chime in as well. The Griffin zin is probably young but great now, but could hold for a few years?
But the small box (assuming cork screw) was empty and a small hole was also found on the bottom of my box? Maybe lost in transit. Strange. Interesting neck gator
@catcoland@jml326@pmarin
It was the 2-packs that landed in Ohio that were virtually identical. There was some vintage variation on the OVZ. Other than that they were all the same.
I thought I purchased quantity 2 for a total of 4 bottles and only 2 arrived but the price paid ($130) lines up with quantity 1 (2 bottles) I got 2010 Old Vine Zin and 2016 J&R Reserve Zin. I can’t wait to enjoy the fruit is Scott’s labor! Cheers!!
I got
2 2017 Petite Sirah
1 2016 Barbara Reserve
1 2017 Zin Old Vine
Not jazzed about two PS’s, but hey random is random - it’s still Scott Harvey.
Anyone tried his PS? I’m scared to think about how long to age.
@scottharveywine
Talked with Scott this afternoon and mentioned there are many ongoing comments here.
Hopefully he’ll be back soon to say HI and visit a bit.
Hi Everyone,
Yes, talked to Ron Quillin yesterday and he informed me there were a lot of comments. So, I’m getting back on. About ten days ago I received a beautiful six pack of Acquiesce wines. A Lodi white wine only winery that makes some exceptional wines. The card inside said, “Thinking about you. Recover and get well soon. Ron” I have a friend that lives in Lodi by the name of Ron. I left a message thanking him for the wine. He called me back saying he had not sent me any wine and didn’t know I was sick with covid. I emailed Acquiesce asking them who this Ron was and they never replied. It wasn’t until yesterday when I talked to Ron Quillin on the phone that i found out he had sent me the wine. Means a lot and thanks to everyone and their well wishes. I’m now 21 days into this and getting better every day. Still losing weight, 15 pounds so far. Got tested on Monday and still waiting on the results before I come out of isolation.
There has been some confusion about the 2018 Griffin Zinfandel magnums received. Griffin is our wine club only label. When we bottle wine and when there is 5 to 10 gallons left at he end of the bottling, I’ll bottle the remaining wine in large format bottles. With the 2018 Mt. Selection Zinfandel, when we went to label the magnums we found out we didn’t have any front labels left. The back label is the 2018 Mt. Selection Zinfandel label. The Griffin label is legally approved by the TTB for any Zinfandel. So we put Griffin labels on the front.
All the best,
Scott
@rjquillin@ScottHarveyWine
Very happy to hear you’re on the mend!
So is the 2018 Griffin label Zin simply a different label on the Mountain Selection, or is it the other situation where it’s a rung “above” the white label?
Sorry for being dense here…
@ScottHarveyWine thanks for the great comments. A question about the 2012 Old Vine and 1869, I’d assume in a standard format these would be “drink sooner rather than later” but in the large format do you thinj they should be drank now or would hold up over ~5 years or so?
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say my covid test I took last Monday came back negative today. So, out of isolation. I’m back.
A safe and happy holiday season to all!
Scott
@ScottHarveyWine Glad that your are on the mend. My wife and I were in close proximity to someone who had been exposed and later showed a positive covid test. We were soooo thankful when our tests came back negative on Wednesday.
Our shipment included the Griffin Society Zin (which had leaked a little) and a signed bottle of the 2010 Zinfandel Old Vine Reserve. So the same pair as others received, but I don’t recall seeing anyone else mention a signed bottle…

@rjquillin are you really trying to decide whether to go in? Seems dubious. Unless it’s a question of how many sets of 2.
@rjquillin also, a quick check of the website shows Cathedral mags at $160, coincidentally the same price as the maximum value of one of the bottles.
@klezman
Well, one can only hope…
@klezman
If no Jana, it’s Tempranillo, 1869, Old Vine Reserve Zin and Mountain Barbera; don’t see any InZin in mags.
@klezman @rjquillin they’ll bottle it just for Klez
@klezman @rjquillin yeah I was just wishful shopping through the available large formats on their site. How many sets y’all grabbing each? Thinking on grabbing an extra single bottle on top of the set I compulsively ordered.
@rjquillin @TechnoViking I think it may include stuff that’s not currently on the site. But WD confirmed there’s no Inzinerator!
@klezman @rjquillin just before we left Connecticut, we had brought a magnum of 2004 InZinerator to a farewell (socially distanced) gathering. Still in lovely shape, very fruity, and with noticeable residual sugar…

@klezman lol, now you know exactly what your getting!
@CorTot probably!
It’s just one of the few Scott Harvey wines I don’t really like.
@klezman no Inzin
@klezman Scott Harvey is an auto buy, but inzin is my favorite!
@klezman No InZinerator in the group.
@Drez143 that’s why Scott makes wines in a variety of styles!

@ScottHarveyWine Oy, we are all hoping you recover fully and quickly!
@ScottHarveyWine
Oh no! We hope you have a fast and full recovery Scott!
@ScottHarveyWine get well soon!
@ScottHarveyWine Wishing you a speedy recovery!
@ScottHarveyWine
Best wishes to you for a quick recovery and hopefully Jana managed to avoid it?
@ScottHarveyWine
Oh no! Wishing you a speedy recovery!
@ScottHarveyWine please let us know if sipping wine every day helps with your symptoms, ‘cause that’s what I’m doing (as a preventative)!
@ScottHarveyWine wishing you a speedy recovery
@ScottHarveyWine NE Ohio sending thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery Scott.
@ScottHarveyWine
Like all the others have voiced, do have a rapid and full recovery.
Do Winemakers ever insure their nose and palate?
GoFundMe anyone?
@rjquillin Hi Ron,
I have heard of it, but don’t know anyone that has taken out such insurance. The company does have key man life insurance on me, but not my nose only.
@ScottHarveyWine Sorry to hear it! I’m toasting you both with one of your wines, pure coincidence that we opened it tonight.
@ScottHarveyWine Wishing you a speedy recovery as well. We had one of your zins while we made Thanksgiving dinner. Always a pleasure. Cheers.
@rjquillin @ScottHarveyWine
Reminds me of Mary Hart having her legs insured for $1 million each.
/giphy distracting-impervious-venus
Ugh sorry to hear this, get well soon, I’m in for two mag’s, and I never buy mystery offerings!
I am also in for 2 mags.
/giphy warn-neurotic-veil
/giphy drowsy-garbled-trout
/giphy amorous-mostly-dolphin
Feel better Scott!
/giphy awesome-perfunctory-screwdriver
OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
/giphy visible-misunderstood-deer
@KNmeh7 good job! Maybe you’ll get a Cathedral
I’m shocked at how long this has lasted
@jml326 It is almost like the stock market doesn’t reflect the economic health of the country.
@jml326 I bottled a lot of magnums and three liters. Maybe next time we’ll do three liters.
See you all tomorrow.
Scott
@jml326 the email is about to go out. Then poof!
/giphy poof
@jml326 @Winedavid49
Yup, kinda reminds me of the old site and the bouncing ball.
@Winedavid49
Been quite some time, but can’t pass this up. In for two. And best wishes to Scott and Jana for a very fast and smooth recovery!
/giphy poised-unsuitable-silver
Speedy recovery!

/giphy internal-tarnished-wolf
2x is sold out, but i can buy 2 1x? grrr
Sad I missed the 2x deal. Bought 2 singles because you’re worth it, Scott.
/giphy meddlesome-disillusioned-blood
Wishing you both a speedy recovery!
Wishing you a quick recovery Scott & Jana!
Missed out on the 2 fer! But glad to grab some Scott Harvey!
/giphy famous-cliched-helium
@klezman @otisskavier
Cheers
@ScottHarveyWine Well now you’ve got me thinking I should do that for my two little ones. Jana even got to meet the littler one!
@klezman @ScottHarveyWine Now that is an awesome and thoughtful idea!
WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
@otisskavier @ScottHarveyWine I actually had a 3 litre of 2004 Mountain Selection Zin at the pre-wedding dinner.
@klezman @otisskavier @ScottHarveyWine
Out of curiosity, you prompted me to look.
More from Peter than others, but still four from Scott, including that '04 and a Cathedral.
@klezman @otisskavier @ScottHarveyWine That is such a wonderful thing to do, Scott!!
/giphy touching-bewildered-anteater
2016 Ty Caron Petite Sirah was the winner! Cheers!!
/giphy nerdy-woven-stove
My first magnum purchase and I’m happy it’s Scott Harvey! My daughter learned to love red wine after we introduced her to InZinerator when she was 19 (yes, we were terrible parents) and she loves it still today at 35! I’m looking forward to sharing this favorite wine with my kids!
Not a member anymore but came back for this… Hope I get it for the Holidays!
/giphy ethereal-deadpan-scallion
I’m fairly sure I may have bought the last bottle before it was all sold out. For some reason that makes me happy…looking forward to an amazing wine. Cheers
I see we are sold out. Thank you everyone for another casemates event.
Cheers,
Scott & Jana
@ScottHarveyWine Congrats on the sell out and please both of you Get Well Soon!
@ScottHarveyWine
Congratulations Scott!!! Hope you and Jana are getting plenty of rest.
@ScottHarveyWine Thanks for another great offer. Feel better, both of you!!
long time listener, first time caller.
@omgjedis @radiolysis
Keep in mind that Scott has to get the wines to WCC before WCC can ship them to us and Scott is trying to recover from Covid so it wouldn’t surprise me if there is a slight delay. Hopefully he and Jana are on the mend!
thanks just checking before I start annoying the folks at UPS
Dislike having wines sit in warehouse over the weekend because of shipment date. Not that I’m buying what I did there but this never happened on former site. Anyone else have this happen to them and any alternatives?
@shrimp74 Could be Christmas overload. I haven’t had an order spend a weekend on the road (or in a warehouse) since back when two day summer shipping began.
I got 1) The Griffin Society 2018 Mountain selection Zinfandel and 2) 2010 old vine reserve Zinfandel. plan to drink 1 and give 1 to my mom which one should I drink?
@stanhouse I’d keep the reserve, for sure!
@stanhouse How much do you like your mom?
@davirom I want the better wine
@stanhouse I got the same random selection.
Here’s what rolled off the truck.
@TechnoViking I was hoping for a 2010! My second born birth year
Just arrived.
Mine are coming today…I see there’s already a dichotomy of spoils…
Received mine yesterday and was thrilled to get the 2015 Jana and 2016 J&S Barbera. Oh, and a Casemates neck gaiter! Could not be happier with those wines, and the swag is awesome too!
VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
@Teim You got an ever better selection than I did!
@Teim you scored!
2015 Jana Cathedral (YAY!!!)
2018 Mountain Selection Zin - Griffin Society (?)
Neck gaiter thinggy
Corkscrew
Anybody know if the Griffin Society version is different from the regular Mountain Selection?
@klezman how did you manage two gifts?
@klezman @losthighwayz
He’s VMP
2015 Jana
2018 Mtn Selection Barbera
Neck gaiter
Could not have asked for anything more! oh and a snot rag and a corkscrew
@ScottW58 You got the epic score! That or the 2010 Reserve Zin instead of Barbera would have been the pair I’d pick based on what’s been revealed so far.
Excellent hauls all around!
@klezman
Yeah I have always loved Scott’s Barbera so that alone was worth it for me. Thanks casemates!
Heads up: I found the corkscrew in the side of the box between the styro and cardboard. Look before discarding the box!
Did well, was kinda hoping for a Cathedral.
A pair of 2016 J&S Barbera along with a 2010 and 2017 Old Vine Reserve Zinfandel. Good thing I like those two.
And three each cork screws and tube socks, aka snot rags.
@rjquillin
Really? Hell I will trade you my Jana for one of your JS Barbera.
@ScottW58
You got a Barbera!
You don’t like the Cathedral?
@rjquillin
No problem with it but I have a ton of great Napa cabs and none of what I feel Scott does best or at least one of things he does best
Looks like mine just shipped today after labels being printed last week. Hope to see them soon!
Mine still shows processing
Mine shows “Delayed. Check back tomorrow for an updated delivery date.”
@shrimp74
I am also in NE OH. You should keep an eye out for case splits, we have a nice group that is pretty active.
@chipgreen @shrimp74 my NEOH magnums are arriving Tuesday… after saying Monday for the last several days.
@chipgreen @lonadoonage Weird over here. Says arrival is tomorrow but out for delivery today. Stay tuned.
@chipgreen @shrimp74 oh, mine is on the truck!
@chipgreen @shrimp74
Mine made it to Cleveland. Griffin society and 2008 reserve
@chipgreen @lonadoonage welcome to the club!
Doesn’t get to DC area until Thursday. They usually tack an extra day on from there, too. Well, will be a good weekend next weekend!
I got a nice mix - quite pleased!
@lindylouwho Now that’s the jackpot!! Wow!
@klezman good karma for the multiple bottles of Wellington Chard I got in all 3 (identical) mystery Wellington red cases I ordered in the final woot blowout… I’ve been leary of mystery cases ever since…
@klezman @lindylouwho 🥴🥺…I’d say your lucky has definitely turned for the better regarding mystery cases
@lindylouwho very nice.
@Allieroon - hopefully we’ll be able to have another Seattle area get together in the reasonably near future (I’m hoping next spring/summer) and I can share!
@klezman @lindylouwho I know what you mean because Peter’s read are outstanding, but honestly the Wellington Chard is fantastic.
Haven’t seen any 1869s yet…
2010 old vine zin and a 2018 mtn zin. I’m not sure what the gift is, a casemates spanx?
@msten
neck gaiter
Did you guys get two boxes with 2 magnums per box? I just got one box but order the 2 with w free 2 bottles
@deneed4spd Did you stroke out while writing this? And, is the world just begging me to inquire about “free 2 bottles?” WTF?
@deneed4spd @KNmeh7 covfefe?
@deneed4spd There was no buy 2 get 2 free offer. Those of us who have 4 bottles ordered (and paid for) 2 sets of 2 magnums…
@lindylouwho I ordered just the two free bottles and I got nothing. Should I write to CS and get refund?
@InFrom @lindylouwho pitchforks! Where’s the free wine you owe me…
Doh never mind.
@deneed4spd Sure read like a BOGO to me:
2 Zins. What a great variety. Anyone have notes on the elusive Griffin Society? Haha…
@shrimp74 “Wine club exclusive” (Sold on casemates.) Sigh. It is like they don’t even try with the descriptions anymore.
@KNmeh7 Haha. Of the clubs I belong to, I’ve never seen their member exclusives, inclusive for all. Why even bother joining?
@KNmeh7
That is exactly what I got (2010 OVZ, 2018 Griffin Zin). I guess those WCC box packers don’t get paid enough to be creative.
@KNmeh7 @shrimp74
Yes, the back label on the Griffin Zin seems to be a Mountain Zin back label. I did find it interesting that the little sliding scale on the back did not say “Old World” at one end and “New World” at the other. Instead it said “Elegant” and “Overly Jammy”, lol.
@chipgreen @KNmeh7 for the distinguished wine club member.
@KNmeh7 the old vine is the Zin version of the J&S reserve.
@klezman @KNmeh7
@wnance
An 1869 sighting!
@wnance I got the exact same setup.
@wnance How long are you going to sit on them before opening? I just bought a prime rib for next week, looking to pair that up with something!
2017 Old Vine Reserve Zin and 2018 Griffin Society Zin. I’d hoped for 2 different varietals but pleased overall.
2017 Old Vine Reserve Zin and 2018 Griffin Society Zin as well. Be my first Scott Harvey wines, and I’m fond of Zin.
I got the SH 2008 Old Vine Reserve Zin & 2018 Griffin Society MS ZIN
@Boatman72 Shocker. Sorry the rest of us took the suspense out of your pack.
No complaints on the bottles.
But the small box (assuming cork screw) was empty and a small hole was also found on the bottom of my box? Maybe lost in transit. Strange. Interesting neck gator
@jml326
Double Barbera, all the way!
@chipgreen @jml326
I got the same bottles and gifts, my corkscrew was still in the box. No complaints!
@catcoland @chipgreen @jml326 I got the Mountain Selection Barbera (same as pic) and an Old Vine Zin. So I guess not all 2-packs were the same.
I don’t know much about the Barberas but I saw some comments mentioning J&S vs Mountain. Either way I’m sure it will be fine.
@jml326 My corkscrew was under the bottom piece of Styrofoam.
@Springbank
Yeah I emptied the whole box seeing as others on here found it outside the little box. No luck.
@catcoland @jml326 @pmarin
Cheers!!
My sister got a 2016 Barbera Reserve and a gaiter as her housewarming gift - Nice!
Looks like I got :
2012 Old Vine Zin
2012 1869
2017 Petite Sirah
2016 J&S Barbera
Seems like a decent mix, I think only the Cathedral would have spiced it up
@deadlyapp
You hit the jackpot! All 4 premium selections
@deadlyapp Nice haul!! I would totally trade my 2017 1869 for your 2012, lol, would save me some time waiting to open it! Awesome library vintages.
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
I got a 2016 Barbera Reserve and a gaiter. Guess opener only for 2 bottle purchase? Could have used a new one.
@n3uka yeah I was hoping for one too, even missed the opportunity in the w00t holiday box that had some casemates related items…
I got
2 2017 Petite Sirah
1 2016 Barbara Reserve
1 2017 Zin Old Vine
Not jazzed about two PS’s, but hey random is random - it’s still Scott Harvey.
Anyone tried his PS? I’m scared to think about how long to age.
@greeneggsanham similar thoughts about the PS. Might have to get a Corazin so I can sample it every year
@scottharveywine
All the best,
Scott
@ScottHarveyWine
Curious Scott, how do the Griffin bottlings differ stylistically from the other red/white and other labels we’re more familiar with?
@rjquillin They are made to be just above the J&S Reserve wines in quality. Usually about 300 cases.
@ScottHarveyWine Glad to hear you’re recovering!
@rjquillin @ScottHarveyWine
Very happy to hear you’re on the mend!
So is the 2018 Griffin label Zin simply a different label on the Mountain Selection, or is it the other situation where it’s a rung “above” the white label?
Sorry for being dense here…
@klezman @rjquillin @ScottHarveyWine
It’s Mt. Selection Zin with a Griffin front label.
@ScottHarveyWine thanks for the great comments. A question about the 2012 Old Vine and 1869, I’d assume in a standard format these would be “drink sooner rather than later” but in the large format do you thinj they should be drank now or would hold up over ~5 years or so?
Was this purchase supposed to be a BOGO deal?
@michaeljohnson1
no
@rjquillin ‘Buy one and you get one with a guaranteed minimum value of $89’
@michaeljohnson1
=>Buy one and you get one (the one you get will have a) guaranteed minimum value of $89
=>Buy two and (the two you get) will have a guaranteed minimum combined value of $160
Yes, the offer wording could have been a bit better, but nowhere does it suggest a bogo.
@rjquillin Jesus Christ. I received 2016 Barbera and wish I had purchased more!
@michaeljohnson1 @rjquillin
Scott does make some great Barbera!
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say my covid test I took last Monday came back negative today. So, out of isolation. I’m back.
A safe and happy holiday season to all!
Scott
@ScottHarveyWine
Yay! That is great news.
Just in time for the holidays so you can put some weight back on!
@ScottHarveyWine Glad that your are on the mend. My wife and I were in close proximity to someone who had been exposed and later showed a positive covid test. We were soooo thankful when our tests came back negative on Wednesday.
Congrats! Great news! Somewhere above there was a question about aging the Petit Syrah, thoughts/advice?
Our shipment included the Griffin Society Zin (which had leaked a little) and a signed bottle of the 2010 Zinfandel Old Vine Reserve. So the same pair as others received, but I don’t recall seeing anyone else mention a signed bottle…
