Just wondering, anyone know approximately when I should start incessantly refreshing my “What Did I Buy Again” screen because my semi-sorta-kinda-half-mystery ports should’ve shipped?
@SylvreKat
Estimated delivery can be found at the end of the first post in the discussion. It’s not always accurate, but it’s what we are given from WD.
Thank you. I totally missed that, in my varied attempts to get it ordered successfully. I just checked the sale page and it does indeed state it’ll ship in Oct.
But cool weather has already come. so I want my semi-sorta-partially-mystery port coming now. I don’t want to wait any longer.
Looks like the “summer hold” concept is a bust anyways, they’re going to start shipping while it’s still 90s across most of the country. I asked if they could hold longer and they said no.
@digerifoo2 Where are you that it’ll still be in the 90s in October? I mean, like, not even Houston is that awful. And they have 200% humidity all summer long.
@digerifoo2@SylvreKat SoCal, around San Diego
Forecast for today, 91, currently 91; tomorrow, 92. It Should cool off a bit, until we get the Santa Ana winds…
@hscottk@jmdavidson1@Winedavid59 I bought summer hold with the mindset that it would wait until cooler temps to ship, over forcing a certain October date. If it ships while it’s still hot, then what was the point of waiting?
Not that I really need it by a specific date, or 'cause I’m travelling, or anything. I just totally turn into a guy once I buy something, and want it in my house already (and before y’alles slam on me, a guy is who told me that, when I said the difference between men and women is women shop, men buy, and he said actually men are worse than that, men resent that what they want isn’t in the house when they decide they want it.)
@jmdavidson1@Winedavid59 That’s been my experience with Garagiste. California shipping from Seattle is mid-Nov. I think they do the east and midwest first, though.
@jmdavidson1@klezman@Winedavid59 I have a Garagiste wine shipment that’s set to ship to WNY on 10/3. 2nd one hasn’t been packed yet fwiw. That’s fine with me, nights in the 40-50’s days in the low 70’s here.
@catcoland does garagiste email to let you know shipment being prepared etc? First season ordering with them and its a total mystery how shipping actually works.
@Ten9Eight Yes they actually authorize the shipping charge and give you at least a week notice of the proposed ship date to make changes. It’s worked ok for me so far.
@jmdavidson1@klezman@SylvreKat it’s just unfortunate that the weather was so uncooperative for the first year of summer ship. Great idea, very thankful, act of god, as it were.
@jmdavidson1@Winedavid59
No $#!t !!
UPS had four cases, when I knew of only one.
It’s a small facility, and they are good to me, except when something like this occurs.
@jmdavidson1@rjquillin@Winedavid59 I don’t mind having skipped the summer like autumnal weather, but it would be good to know what’s up. Shipping window is almost up and still haven’t shipped. As said, I’m sure it’s not two day shipping also.
Not if you ordered with the Summer Hold option
When would it typically ship without the SH option? 'Cause I know my SH case should be after that.
@SylvreKat
Estimated delivery can be found at the end of the first post in the discussion. It’s not always accurate, but it’s what we are given from WD.
@rjquillin Thank you. I didn’t take the time on day-of to read everything. And afterwards, I didn’t realise the first posts were hidden.
So apparently I can relax (yeah, right) until 13.Aug, when the non-SH shipments should all be delivered.
Then the incessant F-5ing shall resume…
Has anyone’s Summer Hold Port semi-mystery case been shipped yet??
@SylvreKat
I think all of the summer hold offers are expected to ship/arrive around the first week of October.
@SylvreKat
Each summer hold offer has a stated expected ship date stated in the offer.
@karenhynes @rjquillin

I don’t want to wait any longer.
@karenhynes @rjquillin @SylvreKat It’s not cool everywhere, likely including parts of the route between you and Sonoma!
@klezman @rjquillin @SylvreKat
I don’t think @winedavid49 @winedavid59 is quite ready for “on demand” shipping just yet. Baby steps!
@karenhynes @klezman @rjquillin @Winedavid49 @Winedavid59
Oh, I LURVE that idea! “I’m ready for my port now so please send it posthaste and forthright!”

AUGH! Anyone else starting to daily-refresh What Did I Buy Again? (at least I’m not at multiple f5ing/day yet
)
Looks like the “summer hold” concept is a bust anyways, they’re going to start shipping while it’s still 90s across most of the country. I asked if they could hold longer and they said no.
@digerifoo2
Hopefully it’ll cool off a bit in the next couple of weeks.
Got up to 40°C here today. Body temp is 37°

@digerifoo2 @rjquillin @SylvreKat We will be in Ashland, OR tomorrow with predicted high of 94.
@davirom @digerifoo2 @rjquillin Well, and it’s not October yet…
Oh sigh. It’s not October yet.
Is it October yet?

If delivery is supposed to be on or about October 2, shouldn’t we be seeing shipping tracking numbers?
@jmdavidson1 I’m wondering the same thing. It’s in the 80s everyday in the Midwest, so I’m also not upset if things get delayed some.
@jmdavidson1 @Ten9Eight thinking of pushing out to mid October.
@Winedavid59 That’s not good for those of us that have made travel plans for mid-October!!!
@jmdavidson1 @Winedavid59 Agree. People bought with those dates in mind. At least I did.
@hscottk @jmdavidson1 @Winedavid59 I bought summer hold with the mindset that it would wait until cooler temps to ship, over forcing a certain October date. If it ships while it’s still hot, then what was the point of waiting?
@Drez143 @hscottk @Winedavid59 Point taken. I suppose it’s a quandary for the shipping dept. to resolve.
@Drez143 @hscottk @Winedavid59 And the two days shipping is presumably not going to be used like it was during the summer.
@jmdavidson1 Mine still shows processing.
Not that I really need it by a specific date, or 'cause I’m travelling, or anything. I just totally turn into a guy once I buy something, and want it in my house already

@Winedavid59 Maybe November 1st would be better all the way around.
@jmdavidson1 @Winedavid59 That’s been my experience with Garagiste. California shipping from Seattle is mid-Nov. I think they do the east and midwest first, though.
@klezman My shipment is in transit (MW).
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @Winedavid59 I have a Garagiste wine shipment that’s set to ship to WNY on 10/3. 2nd one hasn’t been packed yet fwiw. That’s fine with me, nights in the 40-50’s days in the low 70’s here.

@jmdavidson1 @klezman Mine isn’t (also MW)
@klezman @SylvreKat My garagiste order came today.
@jmdavidson1 @klezman @SylvreKat it’s just unfortunate that the weather was so uncooperative for the first year of summer ship. Great idea, very thankful, act of god, as it were.
@Winedavid59 Are you going to give us an update on the shipping?
@Winedavid59 Come on, we need to know when this stuff is shipping.
@jmdavidson1 @Winedavid59
No $#!t !!
UPS had four cases, when I knew of only one.
It’s a small facility, and they are good to me, except when something like this occurs.
Not good.
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin @Winedavid59 I don’t mind having skipped the summer like autumnal weather, but it would be good to know what’s up. Shipping window is almost up and still haven’t shipped. As said, I’m sure it’s not two day shipping also.
@jmdavidson1 @rjquillin @Ten9Eight @Winedavid59 I’d rather have cooler temps than a fixed date…no hurry here in SC and as people have noted record highs in the Midwest
@rjquillin @Winedavid59 Maybe pushing it out to November 1st would satisfy a lot of peoples’ interests.
It’s October!!!
Why hasn’t my port shipped already??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??
/giphy excited waiting

@SylvreKat
and everyone was abstaining from drinking since there wasn’t a thread yet
thanks for the reminder
