All wines in this collection are 100% estate-grown from Caton Vineyard in the Moon Mountain District AVA. Defined by volcanic soils, rugged terrain, and elevations exceeding 300 feet, this mountain site produces wines with intensity, structure, and depth. At Ty Caton Vineyards, we farm with intention and craft each wine to reflect the distinctive character of our vineyard—bold, expressive, and unmistakably Moon Mountain.
2022 Vintage Notes
Late spring gave way to very moderate temperatures with ideal growing conditions for optimal flavor development. At the end of September, we had the mother of all heat waves followed by a dramatic cooling with small amounts of rain a week later. This cool down actually helped refresh the vines. The net effect of the drought, heat and rain was a very light crop, perhaps our lightest ever on our estate vineyards. The good news of this light crop is that it produced a greater concentration of flavor. By adapting our vineyard and winemaking approach to meet the challenges of the season, we produced another vintage of outstanding wines.

This elegant Merlot greets the nose with rich aromas of ripe cherry and violets, followed by a lush mouth feel with layers of blackberry, currant, and a touch of chocolate. These flavors combine with soft and supple tannins to create a long, silky smooth finish.
Caton Vineyard
Located in the foothills of Moon Mountain District, the Caton Vineyard is defined by its sustainable farming and belief that healthier vineyards produce unique and distinctive wines. 3.13 acres of Clone 3 Merlot is planted with East-West row direction leading into a ravine. The deep, rocky volcanic soil on the vineyard is rich with iron clay - an ideal atmosphere for producing the highest quality crop with slow, even ripening.
