2017 Midnight Delight White Wine Blend Best of Class & Silver Medal in California State Fair 2017 Silver: SF Chronicle
Tasting Notes
Our 2017 Midnight Delight blends the apple-pear fruit of Chardonnay with the tropical fruit of Muscat in a delightfully drinkable off-dry wine. Goes best with white meat, salad, and friends. We call our blend of Chardonnay and Muscat âMidnight Delightâ but others call it âSummer in a Bottleâ and âGorgeousâ.
Hand tended, sorted 3 times to ensure grapes are perfect and pure. Estate Produced & Bottled.
Winemaker/Winemaking Notes
Winemakerâs Comments:
This is the perfect transition wine for the sweet wine drinker learning to love more dry wines. The Midnight Delight appeals to the traditionally sweet wine drinker due to its fruit-forward flavors & off-dry characteristic . At the same time, it is only just sweet, along with plenty of acidity to cleanse the palate so the fruit & acidity dance in a refreshing manner, like a classic Riesling. Essentially, this wine delivers the palate that makes Riesling a cult favorite, wrapped in the consumer-friendly brand names of Chardonnay, Muscat & white wine blends. This wine is made to drink casually, whether while cooking dinner or by the pool, with dinner or after dinner."
âWinemaker & Viticulturalist Kevin Luther
Winemaking:
Picked cold at night & early morning, destemmed & crushed, left on the skins overnight to extract fruit flavors, pressed next day. Settled in tank, racked & inoculated with aromatic white wine yeast to bring out the maximum flavor expression of the grapes. Stainless steel fermented at 40F to preserve the fruit aromatics & esters. Aged in stainless steel for a long, slow (1 month) fermentation, aged 2 months in stainless then filtered & bottled.

Tempting. I like rounder white wines, things like North by Northwest does, with less acidity but not quite into sweet territory. Chenin blanc style. This sounds like it miiight fit that. Letâs see what the rats say!
@Jamileigh17 Nailed it. This is a wine with a killer Chardonnay, great fruit from the Muscat, and stays well away from the sugars. Hope you will grab some to enjoy!
Verdict-Got it, itâs got a slightly tart undertone, with a fruitiness that makes it taste sweeter than it is. VERY rich tasting, slightly heavier than the chenin blanc we prefer. Really good, perfect for this kinda wet springtime weâre having here.
@DanNC Yes! Thanks for the research!
âThis blend of Muscat and Chardonnay is a feast for the senses. Jasmine, honey and lychee practically explode from the glass before the palate gives lightly sweet and superconcentrated honey, marmalade and apricot flavors. This should be a fantastic picnic wine, and great to pair with mild cheeses and dried meats for an appetizer course.â

Hello CaseMates! Reaching out from Wise Villa here to enjoy the conversations with everyone and answer any questions!
YES- the residual sugar is a very low .78% (less than 1%)!! Honestly, this wine shows tons of GORGEOUS Muscat fruit, bright and crisp and fun Chardonnay, but really is clean and off dry. No hints of cloying or heavy handed winemaking here. In fact, we call it âSunshine in a Bottleâ around here! Weâve poured this wine for absolutely everyone, at all sorts of public tastings and in the tasting room with nothing but good things to say!
It is PERFECT for the upcoming spring/ summer seasons- donât wait to STOCK UP!! You wonât be disappointed!!
Sorry Iâm lateâŠlab rat here: Iâve been drinking this wine all weekend, and despite initial misgivings upon tasting, its been great. Beautiful topaz yellow color, with a strong fruity smell. The initial taste was sweet, kinda hinted at moscato, but quickly faded to a dry chardonnay type finish. Itâs not over-overpoweringly sweet, its just the first taste that lingers enough to keep it from being overly dry. I really enjoyed this wine and finished it up last night with a bag of salty buttery popcorn (donât judge). I donât personally care for sweet wines but this was a perfect blend of not too sweet, not too dryâŠit was very drinkable and Iâm liking it enough to consider buyingâŠgood price point.
Any idea when ârealâ ship date will be? Going to travel in a few weeks. I know the info always shows some default months-long time, but often it actually ships much faster.

@DrinkWISE Clarksburg grapes? Iâve tasted some surprisingly good wines from that area at the Old Sugar Mill.
@DanNC Beautiful fruit for sure! If youâre ever tasting around the area again you should come up and see us!

This was also at wine spies a couple of times recently for 18.99 and 15.79
and a bronze medal at the 2018 OC Fair which mentions sugar at 0.80% (8 g/l)
@kaolis thanks for finding the sugar content!
@klezman donât know if itâs accurate but sounds plausible based on the write up. It was here:

side note this isnât in my wheelhouse particularly but seems like it might be kind of tasty
