About Château Haut Jonset: “Château Haut Jonset is owned by winemaker Patrick Gresta and his family. It lies in the heart of the undulating hills of the Entre-DeuxMers region of southwestern France. Entre-DeauxMers means ‘between two seas,’ but in this case, it refers to two tidal rivers, the Garonne and the Dordogne. The 16-hectare estate is about 25 miles east of Bordeaux.”

TASTING NOTES: “The robe is red ruby, revealing beautiful wild berry aromas on the nose. The palate is clean, smooth textured and fruit forward. An easy Bordeaux, ready to drink now.” (AbV 13.5%, Merlot)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The rougarou. Or the roux-ga-roux. Or the rugaroo. Or the rugaru. Or the loup-garou.

It’s basically a French werewolf. Wolf head and human body. Doesn’t necessarily do the transforming during full moons thing. They wander swamps, fields, and woodlands. Mostly they’re a bogeyman to make sure kids behave.

According to some legends, not observing Lent seven years in a row leads to a person transforming. In others, the rougarou comes after you for not doing Lent right.
