THAT REMINDS ME OF: Deer. Weird animals, deer. They’re found all over the planet but with notable differences between species, whether in size, shape, antlers, and etcetera. Particularly weird are the ones with tusks.

There exist the musk deer and their tusks, but technically they aren’t in the deer family of Cervidae. However, the water deer are.

The water deer, or vampire deer as people in the West have taken to calling them, do not suck blood. They do have humorously prominent tusks and short, round ears, which give them a distinctive look compared to the rest of their family. Also, they don’t grow antlers, something literally the rest of the family does. They get the name water deer from their preferred environments being around rivers and swamps.

Their original habitats were in China, though now critically endangered, and Korea, where they are numerous. They are also now in England. That’s right. First, it was accidental. Then they started releasing them on purpose. Now there are hundreds out there.
