It’s Grippy
TASTING NOTES:
Grand Klasse - “Deep ruby in color, this wine opens with ripe black cherries, plums, macerated blackberries, dried tobacco, black currant, orange rind and baking spices. Swirling brings forth red cherries, lilac floral notes, summer savory, cedar box, burnt brown sugar, graphite, and peppercorn. The mouthfeel is silky, with a dense core showing mid-palate, slightly chalky tannins and playful and abundant acidity. The palate expresses generous red and black fruits such as raspberries, blueberries and dark cherries, as well sandalwood, dried herbs and spice, with a finish that is grippy and lingering. This wine has great texture and personality.” (AbV 15.1%
Gård Estate - “Lots of dark and red fruit on the nose, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon begins with blackberry compote, raspberry jam, mocha, sandalwood, and potpourri. Swirling brings riper fruit and spices, with figs, dark cherry, oak spice, cardamom and eucalyptus. The mouthfeel has great sweetness and concentration, with remarkable structure and a beautiful acid lift. The oak presentation here is elegant, and the tannins are very fine. Wine finishes long, with the perfect amount of grip. Drink now or in the next 10 years.” (AbV 14.6%

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Gritty, mascot of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Debuted in 2018, Gritty is… I’m not really sure. He’s a big orange guy. Really hairy. Looks like a cross between a Muppet and one of Ed Roth’s “Weirdos.” When they built the Wells Fargo Center, he emerged from a secret hideout underground. He would be recruited as the Flyers’ mascot after that.
