“Founded in 1984, Gruet Winery specializes in Methode Champenoise sparkling wines. Family owned and run, the New Mexico-based winery produces Pinot Noir and Chardonnay-based sparkling wines and a small collection of still wines, with roots originating from Gilbert Gruet’s Champagne house in Bethon, France.”

TASTING NOTES:
Sauvage - “Gruet Sauvage NV is a bone-dry sparkler, pale straw in color with a delicate but persistent mousse. The aromas of bright mineral and citrus notes tickle the nose followed by touches of green apple, lemon and grapefruit. The finish is structured, flavorful and long.“

Brut - “Wonderful aromas of green apple and citrus with mineral notes make for a delightful start to this traditional sparkler. Our Brut NV offers bright, crisp acidity complimented by a touch of yeast on the delightfully long finish. A classic house style!”

Blanc de Noirs - “Pale Salmon in color, the Blanc de Noirs has aromas of berry and pear, complimented by a rich, round mouth feel on the palate. It finishes with a layer of cream and pleasant, warm toastiness.”

In Norse mythology, the half-god half-jotun Loki mates with the jotun Angrboda. From this seemingly normal union, all things considered, they had three beautiful children: the giant wolf Fenrir who would devour the sun eventually, the giant serpent Jormungandr that is able to wrap itself around the entire world, and a girl named Hel. To be honest, Hel was the most normal person in the family. Except half of her body was supposedly dead or blackened. While Fenrir got himself chained up and Jormungandr got tossed into the ocean surrounding the world tree Yggdrasil, Odin went ahead and just gave Hel her own little kingdom in Niflheim, aka the underworld. She’d take care of the souls who die of sickness or old age with a bunch of mansions and servants, and the kingdom was even named Hel after her. All in all, she was pretty alright outside of holding Odin’s son Baldr captive in her care after he was killed by accident.
