Bear in the Big Blue Housley
TASTING NOTES: “This wine has received multiple 90 point scores and medaled in every single competition entered. It is grown, crushed, aged and bottled all on site. It is aged in mostly new French Oak barrels for 26 months and has all the signatures of a new world cabernet. On the nose you’ll get deep berries and spice, which pairs nicely with the wine on the palate. This estate cabernet has silky tannins, with hints of dark plum, pepper, wild cherry and dark berries. It is very well balanced and pairs fantastically with food. This is our most popular wine and true ‘house Cabernet’.” (AbV 14.5%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Bear in the Big Blue House.
The 90’s were a time of many new children’s shows. There was a real boom in the industry, due to concerns about kids’ exposure to violence on television in the previous decade. You get channels like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network really coming into their own, as well as the Disney Channel. Disney, seeking to compete with Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. block of programming, started bringing in a number of preschool-focused shows in the second half of the 90’s, including one by Jim Henson Productions.
Bear in the Big Blue House premiered in 1997. The titular Bear is a life-sized puppet with a gentle voice, the owner of the Big Blue House and caregiver for several smaller puppet characters in the house. Each episode would focus on one topic intended to teach kids some sort of life skill or lesson. It aired for almost a decade before Walt Disney cut it off at 118 episodes.
