Nidoking Estate

TASTING NOTES: “A beautiful golden straw color in the glass, the nose delights with fragrant peach, wildflower, nutmeg, oak, and a touch of black olive. The gorgeous aromatics are apparent on the palate with flavors of peach, nutmeg, sweet oak, black olive, wildflower, and honey. Very round and rich, this wine coats the mid-palate and offers a lingering finish.” (AbV 14.5%)

There really are a lot of Pokémon with “king” in their names, aren’t there? Number 33, first generation, we have Nidoking! A strange purple bipedal beast, it bears some resemblance to Kaiju (think Godzilla), but really looks like some sort of large reptilian chinchilla with a horn. A dual-type of poison and ground, it is the final evolution of the Nidoran line. Correction: it is the final evolution of the male Nidoran line. If you were unaware, Pokémon do have sexes, although most don’t display sexual dimorphism. Nidoran is one where it’s very pronounced, however. If you got a Nidoran♂, you get a Nidoking. If you got a Nidoran♀, you get a Nidoqueen. The horn of Nidoking is very venomous, and it is said that it also coats its claws in acid. On top of this, it has a hide like steel, a tail that can crush bones, and the horn itself can even crush diamonds. The good news is that you aren’t likely to run into one in the wild, though. These monsters can only be produced within the presence of a Moon Stone, so unless someone decides to make one or they are in an environment with naturally occurring Moon Stone, chances are you’ll go through life never encountering one.

Granted, there are plenty of other Pokémon out there you absolutely do not want to encounter that are much more commonplace.
