On the Levo

TASTING NOTES: “For our Petite Sirah lovers, the wait is over, as this new blend is PS-based with a sprinkle of Grenache and Syrah. We held this wine back to age for an additional year in bottle, which made all the difference. THIS WINE IS DELICIOUS!” (AbV 15.3%)

VARIETALS: 75% Petite Sirah, 15% Syrah, 10% Grenache

PAIRS WITH: N/A

THAT REMINDS ME OF: The phrase “on the level.” Likely to have originated in the 19th century from masons, to be on the level is to be sincere and trustworthy, to be on equal footing. This is because the level as a tool tends to be a symbol of integrity and equality. Similarly, the square, used to ensure right angles, represents similar concepts. Thus you end up with things like “fair and square.”

And I guess “on the square” is a thing people will say too. Just doesn’t sound as good as “on the level” though.
