About Domaine le Clos des Lumières: “Domaine le Clos des Lumières is a 50-hectare family farm founded in 1946 by the grandfather of the domaine’s current vigneron, Gérald Serrano. The ambitious and talented Gérald Serrano is solely responsible for the recent “coming out” of this estate – Prior to taking things over in 2003 Gérald’s father was selling all grapes on the estate to the local cooperative.”

TASTING NOTES: “Cherry, blackcurrant, some spices and garrigue notes. The attack is fruit driven, dominated by cherry, the tannins are very gentle and well built in. Pleasant roundness and elegance on the finish.” (AbV 14.2%, 80% Grenache 20% Syrah)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Racing, boxing, and giant robots. That’s what you get with IGPX, the first original animated series produced by/for Cartoon Network’s Toonami animation block. Most of Toonami consisted of English dubbed shows from Japan, so this was pretty big at the time.

The IGPX, or Immortal Grand Prix, is a race between two teams, each consisting of three mechs, that go around a ridiculous track at speeds of 350 mph, and you’re allowed to hit each other. It’s like if Nascar was on a Hot Wheels track and the cars were rock ’em, sock ’em robots. IGPX follows Team Satomi, a group of rookie pilots/racers who have graduated from a minor league circuit, the IG-2, to the sport’s major league, the IG-1. They’re a bunch of young hotshots with something to prove, and boy do they gotta work through all kinds of inter- and intra-team drama while trying to win these robot races.
