TASTING NOTES:
Speedy Creek - “Spirited aromas of white cherry, plums and caramel lead to complex layers of cherry cobbler and black licorice. The palate is polished and smooth, with a finish intertwined with toasted vanilla. Best now through 2030.” (AbV 16%, pH 3.89)

Wyldvin Vineyard - “Mesmerizing aromas of blueberry pie, fresh garden herbs, and almonds lead to a focused palate with flavors of huckleberry, blackberry jam, cassis, and baking spices. The finish is rich and round, with lingering tannins and notes of black currant, 5-spice, violets, and cocoa powder.” (AbV 14.5%, pH 3.84)

THAT REMINDS ME… Everyone knows about Batman and Robin, but less seem to know about Green Arrow and Speedy. Granted, Speedy sounds like it’d be more fitting for a Flash-like character than an archer, though perhaps that’s too on-the-nose. There have been two Speedy’s: Roy Harper and Mia Dearden. Most people who know Speedy know the Roy Harper version.

Roy Harper has been through a lot. In one continuity he was kidnapped, cloned, and put on ice for several years. In the comics, he had a heroin problem that became a notable “A Very Special Episode” issue. He has on-again off-again relationships with the assassin villainess Cheshire and Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl. While he originally was that typical dorky, golly-gee, boy-wonder type of sidekick, over time his character became more reckless, cocky, and passionate.
