In 1955, DC introduced a new comic series titled The Brave and the Bold. Originally an anthology of crossover adventures featuring a few old-school heroes of the past, it would become a vehicle for DC to test new ideas. For instance, Issue #25 was the first appearance of the Suicide Squad. Issue #28 was the introduction of the Justice League of America. Issue #54 teamed up Robin, Aqualad, and Kid Flash, which would lead to their introduction as the Teen Titans in Issue #60.

Kind of counterintuitive to being a testbed for new things, the series specifically became Batman and Bat-family centric from #59 onward, but it was still the place to introduce and explore characters. Just, you know, alongside Batman. The final issue of the original series would be #200 in 1983, but it would be revived every so often in a new form.
