THAT REMINDS ME OF: Dark and Darker, a South Korean fantasy game that’s gotten some attention over the past year. You may not be familiar, and that is okay, because it seems pretty niche. Sometimes it’s fun to learn about things that otherwise have no interaction with your life. That said, you could describe the game as… a multiplayer dark fantasy dungeon crawler roleplaying rogue-like extraction battle royale. Let’s break that down.

This game is a battle royale, meaning you and everyone else enter an arena where only a few may survive. Extraction refers to how each round ends, as players try to survive until they can be extracted from the map, with limited opportunities to do so. Roguelike means it is inspired by 1980’s Rogue, where you lose everything upon dying and the environment is newly generated each round. A dungeon crawler refers to fantasy games where players navigate an underground labyrinth full of monsters and treasure chests. In this game, you pick a fantasy class, enter a dungeon with other people, either work with or against them to get out, then rinse and repeat. If you get out, you keep what you find.
