2020 Obvious Wines Nº01 Dark & Bold Red Blend, Central Coast
Tasting Notes
Aromas of dark fruits, baking spices, and subtle earthiness. Flavors of black currant, blueberry, and plum with vanilla, clove, and dark chocolate notes. Smooth yet well-structured mouthfeel.
Estate Vineyards:
Monterey County Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines situated in the southern tip of the Salinas Valley enjoy a cooler climate with morning fogs and afternoon breezes. This results in longer hang times developing rich complex fruit and fresh aromatics. Paso Robles grown Zin, Grenache, and Petite Sirah benefit from plentiful sunshine and extreme diurnal temperature variances creating bold, concentrated fruit with deep color and balanced acidity.

Certified Sustainable & Vegan
100% Wind-Powered winery with an in-house water recycling system
Organic herbicides and owl boxes to control pests, & regenerative composts
Carbon-Zero corks made from recycled plant material in the U.S.
Fairtrade Commitment for Field Workers (increased salaries & quality of life investments)
Winemaking:
Minimal intervention philosophy in the winery.

Created in 2018 by a reformed “wine-snob” originally from Champagne, France, Obvious Wines founder Brice Baillie noticed a gap between an overall growing interest and love for Boutique, Vegan & Eco-friendly wines, yet a high level of intimidation towards selecting and discussing them.
So he decided to create an accessible and playful brand that still checked all the necessary boxes of high-quality, eco-conscious wine. So, he got to work cold-calling wineries in California to identify those who were open to partnerships and met his criteria. Eventually, he got a bite, and Obvious Wines was born.

I may have been a rat at some point for this one. I don’t recall, but I know it’s an easy-drinker and will be great will summer barbecues. With my $20 Meh coupon, this is a steal.

2020 Obvious Wines Nº01 Dark & Bold Red Blend - $36 = 23.07%
Bought this the last time around and found it to be a good everyday drinker. Then I saw the founder on shark tank. Not sure if that made me more or less likely to purchase. Interesting watch in any event.
And if I am violating some casemates policy posting the link please forgive and feel free to remove.
I think I’ve bought a case every time it has been offered. A very enjoyable wine any time of the year, and I loved seeing the Shark Tank video. I had no idea of Obvious’ history with the Sharks.
@agailb
I know. I have purchased a couple of times and had no idea. Sent me down a shark tank well that I am digging myself out of… So least I still haven’t purchased any Scrub Daddies yet
I think that was why I thought the video so educational! I rarely watch Shark Tank so I didn’t realize one of the Sharks (and I guess I should know his name by now - Kevin?) had his own winery.

Meanwhile, enjoying my Parducci Grenache! It was exciting to see what was in the Mystery case!
