TASTING NOTES: “Garnet in color with crystal clarity. A perfumed nose of fresh plum, strawberry pate du fruit, cranberry, bing cherry, violets, vanilla, and sweet earth. A raspberry attack leads to a layered mouth of pomegranate, red currant, red plum, anise and hints of cocoa. Firm but elegant tannins give way to a long pomegranate and cherry finish.” (AbV 14%)

THAT REMINDS ME OF: Ocean Master.

Orm Marius is the human half-brother of Aquaman, Arthur Curry. They had the same human father. As a result of his sibling jealousy, he turns himself into a high-tech pirate known as Ocean Master. But then DC Comics did a thing in the 80’s called Crisis on Infinite Earths that changed the status quo for much of its roster. Now Ocean Master, still Aquaman’s half brother but from their shared Atlantean father, was half Inuit and had some magic powers of his own. He would attempt to usurp his brother as king through various schemes for another two decades… until DC did yet another revamp/reboot, this time The New 52.

Now Aquaman and Ocean Master share an Atlantean mother, with Aquaman having a human father. Ocean Master becomes king of Atlantis before his brother, and is sort of alright and not a villain. He does have a very anti-surface dweller stance, which culminates in him trying to sink Boston. Once again a villain. BUT THEN, a few years later, he gets sort of reformed into an anti-villain! He falls in love with a surface woman and sort of adopts a surface child, though he still yearns for Atlantis. So he does some questionably good things or things with good intentions for a little bit, only to fall straight down to basically villainy yet again.

Will he continue to be a villain? An anti-villain? A straight-hero? Who knows, man.
